If you have any concerns about a compromised smart lock, opt for an encrypted smart lock, change your Wi-Fi password, and make sure that you only give out your password to trusted family and friends.

Begin by checking the power source, typically a battery or wired connection. Ensure the battery is installed correctly, has sufficient charge, and isn't corroded. If it's a wired lock, examine the electrical connections to confirm they are secure and free from damage. Additionally, inspect the lock's programming or settings. Confirm that user codes or access credentials are programmed correctly and that any remote control devices are paired and functional.

There are many times when you should change your locks. When moving into a new house, ensure you know the whereabouts of all working keys. You should also change locks after a home break-in, losing your keys, or if you suspect your keys have been stolen. Always change your locks when they break or become unreliable.
