"I live out of the area & I needed someone to clean up a rental property yard that was filled with trash bags and abandoned junk. Paul went out of his way on a weekend to provide me with up-to-date photos of the property, and he also told me about other issues he could see that might need looking after. He took time to explain the various costs involved to haul away & dispose of the different types of trash. After the work was completed, Paul again took several photos so that I really knew the trash was all cleared out. He was a positive person to deal with, and very helpful considering I could not be there in person!"

"Accumulation of landscape railroad ties, construction debris, brickbats, concrete chunks, concrete blocks in back yard was an eyesore. I let it go too long, and the accumulation of the above made routine mowing, weed eating and trimming a challenging task. Jimmy and Jesse quickly scoped out the project, submitted a very reasonable estimate, filled their trailer with my junk and cleaned up in less than 3 hours. Very professional, workmanlike, courteous service. I will use them again and I recommend them for excellent junk hauling services."

Concrete Disposal questions, answered by experts

It’s one thing that helps, alongside vinegar and baking soda. Ice acts as an exfoliant, helping to lift off any bits of food stuck on the disposal blades.

You may be able to install a garbage disposal on your own, especially if you're handy or have some experience with plumbing. However, if you have any concerns or want to make absolutely sure that the connections are installed correctly, you may be better off hiring a local garbage disposal installer to do the job.

The main issue with garbage disposals is clogging. This can mean a clogging of the pipes that expel the food along with water, or a clogging of the mechanical parts themselves. The problem lies in the solution because you can’t easily see clogs if they’re inside the system, and reaching in to dislodge stuck items is a risky proposal. Call a pro and ask what they would do, but if you can’t see the clog easily, and running the unit won’t free it, you need to let a professional handle the fix.

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.
