"If I could give this company more than 5 stars, I would! They are extremely professional, honest, and skilled. They show up when they say they will, they work quickly, and the work is outstanding. I had several very unique projects that needed to be completed and I had trouble finding help but these guys had so many amazing ideas and solutions and their finished work is simply beautiful. I cannot recommend this company highly enough!"

"Fast response. Arranged to get my pocket door repaired and adjusted the same day. Also fixed a second misaligned door. The work was done correctly and without having to interfere with surrounding framing. Reginald has good problen solving skills. The pocket door now functions better than when it was new."

"I was very pleased with the jobs this contractor did for us! He reworked a bottom cabinet and installed our first dishwasher. He scraped our garage ceiling, repaired trim on a door and repaired damaged Sheetrock on the walls before painting the whole garage. He was very informative before and during the work. Also he was very professional and yet friendly!! He will be the one we call first on our home projects!!"

"Mr. Scott is so knowledgeable and great at what he does! He's willing to stay late and work hard! He did his best to help me buy the right products all so I could be left with the best outcome. We had other contractors do us wrong and he even offered advice and took on another project to help us get our house fixed. You are not only paying for the work but also his expertise, integrity, good work ethic, and knowledge. Hard to meet honest people who take pride in what they do these days!"

Mailbox Repair questions, answered by experts

Careful measurement is crucial—measure multiple times and account for hardware thickness, seasonal wood movement, and clearance requirements. Test-fit components before final assembly, and consider building one drawer as a prototype before cutting materials for multiple units.

Wood furniture is usually vulnerable to water damage. However, larger furniture tends to have a high chance of being salvaged as long as it hasn’t been standing in water for more than 24 hours. You can restore bedpoles, table and couch legs, and other wood parts that haven’t been fully saturated. Meanwhile, smaller objects like decors or furniture with fabric wrapping may require full replacement.

When deciding whether to repair, reupholster, or replace old furniture, consider its age, quality, level of wear, and overall value, including sentimental attachment. In many cases, it is more affordable to reupholster or repair furniture than to replace it, especially for antique, vintage, or discontinued pieces.

Older furniture is often made from durable hardwoods like oak and maple, giving it a longer lifespan than newer furniture, which frequently uses lower-quality materials such as plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Because of this, repairing or reupholstering a well-made older piece is often a worthwhile investment.

To determine the best course of action from a financial perspective, compare quotes from local furniture repair services with the price of a new, similar piece. Reupholstery may not be cost-effective for furniture that was originally inexpensive (e.g., under $300). For high-quality or sentimental items, however, it is an excellent way to preserve the piece and extend its life. If you're unsure, a furniture reupholstery specialist can help you evaluate the piece and make an informed decision.

The weight capacity depends on the construction method and the quality of the hardware.  Basic side-mount slides often support 50 pounds, but less expensive versions may be rated lower. Properly built drawers with dado joints and heavy-duty, full-extension slides can typically support between 75 and 100 lbs. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s weight rating for your specific drawer slides.

It is often worthwhile to refinish or restore furniture, especially for high-quality, older, antique, or sentimental pieces. Older furniture tends to have better durability than modern, mass-produced items, and refinishing can cost about one-third of the price of replacement. To determine if it's cost-effective, compare quotes from local refinishing services with the price of a new, similar piece. Refinishing can refresh a piece's look and extend its lifespan. However, it may not be worth it for newer furniture made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or plywood, or for items with major structural damage. A professional can help you assess the piece and decide on the best course of action.
