"C Mason Concrete brings craftmanship back to concrete prep and finishing. As an experienced engineer with an appreciation for professional quality, it has been difficult finding true craftsmen. Chris and his crew prepped and poured the 70yd driveway, sidewalks, and stairs within a week. As they worked, my neighbors passed by and Chris's crew picked up three more jobs before the job was complete. I have had nothing but compliments on the work they did. I am very pleased with the results and highly recommend this team of professionals."

Concrete Walls questions, answered by experts

Concrete houses cost 10% to 20% more to build than stick-built homes, and maintenance on home systems is more invasive and expensive due to pipes and wires being buried in concrete. Concrete homes can also look more industrial and less comfortable if you don’t cover the concrete with finishing materials. It’s also more challenging to make changes to concrete, so reframing doors and windows or building home additions will cost more. Concrete needs time to cure, too, so the timeline to build a house out of concrete is a bit longer.

Yes, you can pour concrete if it rained the day before, but you’ll need to drain the construction site to ensure there isn’t standing water where your slab will sit. You might need to manually remove any puddles and set up drainage on your site to dry it before pouring. Moist soil won’t be an issue, but standing water will throw off your concrete mix ratios. Additionally, ensure there isn’t more rain expected in the near future before you pour.

Professionals provide long-lasting, structurally sound, and aesthetically appealing concrete surfaces tailored to business needs.

Unfortunately, concrete cracks happen, so there’s no surefire way to avoid them long-term. To slow down the cracking, apply a sealant every two to three years and use sand rather than salt to melt snow or ice. Using salt speeds up the freeze-thaw cycle, which may increase the likelihood of cracking. Additionally, keep vehicles and heavy machinery off of your concrete, as the weight can lead to more cracking.

Yes, you can pour the footings for your foundation and the foundation system itself together, in which case the footing acts as the foundation. Some common examples of foundations where you might pour the footings simultaneously include floating slab foundations and monolithic slab foundations. Both lack traditional footings underneath the slab, so these foundation types are considered footings.
