"It was wonderful working with Chris/ Nextgen today. He did a great job explaining everything I need to do with my unit, what to expect, and all the benefits I can get from it. I really appreciate the time he took to answer my questions and make sure I understood everything. I just want to say thank you, Chris, for all your help! I look forward to a great installation! "I had Pro Tech repair two pieces of wooden furniture. They were very cordial and professional. They worked very hard when they were here and treated my furniture very carefully. Both pieces look MUCH better than before!! Although this is the only service I used them for, I believe their specialty is HVAC and I would try them for that if I had the need."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While spending money once or twice a year to tuneup your AC and furnace might seem like a waste of money, think again. The cost of HVAC maintenance is far less than the cost of replacing your furnace or AC unit, regardless of the type of HVAC system you have. Paying this smaller fee now will help you avoid paying much more significant costs in the future. Not to mention, having a serviced AC and heating system will help keep your home comfortable, no matter the season.

While "dry" mode on your AC can help reduce humidity levels to some extent, it may not be as effective as a dedicated dehumidifier, especially in areas with extremely high humidity or larger spaces. Dehumidifiers are specifically designed to remove moisture from the air more efficiently, making them a better choice for tackling persistent humidity issues.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.

Turn your system off when you're toasty or when you're out to prevent unnecessary wear. Using the timer on your thermostat so that it switches off when it reaches a certain temperature or turns on just before you get back from work is best. An annual maintenance contract can be helpful to ensure your system receives these important services at regular intervals.

Set your house temperature between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit while on vacation, depending on the season. If it’s winter, don’t go below 55 degrees. In the summer, the best AC temperature for energy savings is no higher than 85 degrees. You can save anywhere from 10% to 15% on your energy costs by adjusting the temperature while you’re away. If you have a smart thermostat, set up vacation modes for each season. On your way home, turn off vacation mode to allow the home to warm up or cool down before you arrive.
