"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. "The plumbing job was left incomplete and not done properly. After scheduling and them rescheduling Jacob came out on friday to the house. After the work was performed we realized there was no water to the kitchen and no hot water in the master bath. So we went without for the weekend. We scheduled an appointment online the following saturday. We were told someone would be out monday then that got moved to tuesday. Finally on tuesday afternoon they came back to complete the job and return our water service."

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

It’s not customary to tip HVAC technicians, and most professionals won’t expect it. However, it’s a nice way of showing your appreciation for the work they do, especially if they come out in inclement weather or on a weekend or holiday to fix an emergency issue if your heat or AC goes out in extreme temperatures. A good tip would be between 10% to 20% of the total bill, depending on how above and beyond the tech goes for your repair and on the total cost of your HVAC repair or service. For something like a routine tune-up or scheduled maintenance, tips aren’t expected.

If an air conditioner is younger than 10 years, it’s worth trying to repair it in most cases. Some basic maintenance or a cleaning might bring it back to working condition. However, many HVAC pros swear by the “5,000 rule.” If the estimated cost of your repair multiplied by the unit’s age is more than $5,000, it’s time to replace it.

Some states require special licenses for HVAC professionals, but most don’t. However, even if there is no state requirement for HVAC licensing, local requirements might exist. It’s always a good idea to check if HVAC technicians need to be licensed in your area and then Angi’s contractor license lookup tool to confirm that the contractor you’re hiring holds the necessary licenses. Additionally, you should always ensure the company you’re hiring is fully insured to avoid potential lawsuits if a technician gets injured on your property.
