"This company was just awesome. Everyone was so nice and professional through out the whole process. The owner inspected the water heater and sent his repairman Scott out to repair it. My work schedule is hectic but they worked with my schedule and had it installed on my day off. I did not see very many reviews for this company but please dont let that deter you from using them. I would definitely recommend them to people I know. Thank you Chris, Scott and Tate."

"Ronald did an excellent job on my sewer drain and clean out. He replaced all the cap and made sure the pipes and plumbing was working properly. He also gave me some tips on water drainage for my backyard. I will hire him again!"

"Mr. Howard and his employees did a great job. They had a big job due to the massive roots growing in my old clay pipes from the house to the city connection. They showed up when we scheduled, completed the job, got the inspection and all permits required. They were patient in explaining everything they were doing (cause I had a lot of questions). Reasonable price for the job. I was satisfied with the cost and the work. I will hire them again and refer them to a friend."

"used $49 coupon and found out water heater needed some parts. I feel the parts and labor were high.  Work was done while my wife was at home and she didn't know much about what they were recommending. They did explain by phone to me before hand. Also, I got no detailed report on the multi part inspection that supposedly came with my heater flush. My receipt simply said "repair heater" next to the $340 charge.  I definitely wouldn't use again.

"Date and price approx.  Too long and do not want to dig out paperwork.
When finished, toilet wasn't flushing efficiently and I asked the plumber to run a snake down it since the tile man had put a lot of old grout and other scrapings down the shower drain instead of hauling them away. He (the plumber) said it was not necessary. Several days later, I called General Plumbing to say the toilet still backed up when flushed and I still thought it should have been snaked. They came out and did so but wanted to charge me. I called the office and they agreed reluctantly not to charge. Plumber made it obvious that he was displeased about having to snake the toilet when he had said it was not necessary,  and about not getting to charge me, but the toilet worked fine after that.
Within a year, the caulking in the newly installed toilet was deteriorating but I did not call General Plumbing after their last reaction.
This year when roaches started emerging from beneath the toilet and the flushing mechanism failed, I called a different plumber who pulled the toilet again. He said the toilet had  been set so that it was not touching the wax seal: thus the deteriorating caulk and roaches. He reset and recalled the toilet. No more roaches.
I had been using General for a number of years with great satisfaction (See my previous high ratings on Angie's list), but would unfortunately hesitate to use them now.

"Decks, Etc. did a fantastic job on both our projects! We were so impressed with the work Cheryl's crew did on our first project, we hired Decks, Etc. again to install our fence. Both times we received the same high quality workmanship, competitive pricing, and utmost professionalism. Top notch!"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

That pungent rotten egg smell coming from your drain is likely the buildup of biofilm—hair, skin, and soap scum that turns into a black sticky mess. In this case, pouring down near-boiling water, baking soda, and white vinegar will remove the smell. Keep in mind that a rotten egg smell is occasionally a sign of larger sewage line clogs and other related issues.

If your washing machine drain is clogged, that isn’t a good sign. Unlike toilet drains or kitchen sink drains, there isn’t matter that is easily broken up with a plumbing snake, and more care is required. If you’re in an old house or have mineral-rich water, there could be a buildup inside the pipe. Either way, if the blockage isn’t obvious and doesn’t dislodge with a snake, you need to call a pro—otherwise, you risk damaging integral plumbing.

Yes—your local septic company can clean your septic leach lines with a sewer jetter, a device that pumps high-pressure water through the lines to blast out any clogs and scum buildup. Unless there’s a clog or blockage in the lines, however, you do not need to perform this maintenance regularly. Do not attempt to clean your own leach lines, as you could easily damage them, leading to very costly repairs.

Bleach isn’t likely to help unclog a sewer line. Bleach isn’t useful in this situation because it won’t dissolve the grime and debris in the clog. Instead, you want to use ingredients that will have a chemical reaction to clear out the buildup, like vinegar or salt and baking soda.

You may have a clogged gutter. Downspouts can also clog if your gutter collects too much debris. Hire a professional gutter cleaner, and if you still have problems, install a gutter guard (which prevents debris from entering your gutter system) and a downspout extension (which helps drain water further away from your foundation, so it doesn't pool near your house). Follow these tips to keep your gutter downspouts clean.
