I have been designing and drawing custom house plans since 1984. I have never advertised my work, yet I have relied solely on word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied homeowners I have worked for. My mission has always been to work closely with the homeowner, for as long as it takes, to design and customize a plan that "works" for them and they are completely satisfied with. Building a new house is not only a huge investment, but the process can be a very lengthy, confusing, and stressful time for the homeowner. So, to me, the planning stage is a very crucial time and should never be rushed. I feel that it’s my responsibility to do all I can to provide the homeowner with a plan that is customized to fit all their needs. I like to think that with every set of plans I draw, I gain new friends. Seeing the homeowner happy with the results of a plan that I worked with them to create, then seeing that plan transformed into a real house.....is very rewarding. Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Federal architecture is most common in urban areas throughout the New England states, including the older parts of New York, Pennsylvania (namely, Boston and Philadelphia), Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. The style also dominated in parts of Georgia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, so many historical homes in the area embody this home design. Salem, MA, has two historic districts that predominantly feature this architectural style: Chestnut Street District and the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.

While many different factors determine whether a house is classified as a villa, many villas are detached homes with a European design influence, often with an emphasis on luxury and comfort. Modern villas often feature outdoor spaces such as terraces, gardens, or patios.

Greek Revival architecture was popularized in America in the early- to mid-1800s, around the time when archaeologists were discovering buried ancient Greek buildings. As a means of celebrating the democratic government in ancient Greece, American architects borrowed from those newly discovered buildings as a way to emphasize that America would remain a democratic country in the wake of the American Revolution.

The most idyllic building material that encapsulates the feel of Federal architecture is a brick facade, often with bricks alternating between long side and short side. Palladium and arched transom windows are also prevalent, as are flat, white window lintels. More ornate Federal architecture buildings also include columns on either side of the front door. More important than most of the finer details, though, is the symmetry from the exterior. On the interior, ornate plaster moldings and plaster ceiling medallions are indicative of the style.
