Corian® is a popular countertop alternative to quartz. Created from an acrylic resin and natural minerals, Corian® resembles quartz and offers some similar benefits, but it comes at a cheaper price. Corian® countertops cost an average of $26 to $65 per square foot, which is less than half of what quartz countertops usually cost. The downside is that Corian® isn’t as durable as quartz, particularly regarding its resistance to scratches and high temperatures.

One of the primary benefits of a soapstone countertop is that the material is heat-resistant. You can put a hot pan on soapstone, and it won’t scorch or crack. Despite being able to handle extreme heat, soapstone is much softer than granite, quartz and similar materials. This means that it scratches easily, so you should not prepare food directly on the surface.

Caesarstone® offers both quartz and porcelain counters, which are types of engineered stone countertops. Generally, you can expect to pay $50 to $200 per square foot for quartz countertops. If you decide to go with Caesarstone® quartz counters, then you’ll pay $75 to $125 per square foot, which is in the mid-range of what most quartz manufacturers charge.

Additionally, Caesarstone® is typically less expensive than quartzite, which is a natural quartz countertop that costs $80 to $220 per square foot. Depending on the Caesarstone® countertop you choose, you may spend significantly more on quartzite counters.

Quartz countertops are not recommended for outdoor use. While durable indoors, they are not designed to withstand outdoor conditions like sunlight, weather, and high heat from barbeque grills. Exposure to these elements, particularly UV rays, can cause the resins in the quartz to break down, leading to discoloration and damage to the surface. For a longer-lasting outdoor countertop, it is better to choose a natural stone like granite, which has greater resistance to these elements.

In most cases, a professional countertop installer will take between three and six hours to install your granite countertops. However, it may take two and four weeks to order and receive the materials to install, including time for measurements, checking that your cabinets can support the added weight, and delivery. If you choose a high-end slab of granite from a particular excavation site, you could wait for several months for delivery.
