"Kudos to Mark, Tom & Dustin for the excellent remodel work they performed during the hot July days! They were always on time & worked efficiently and never complained the entire time about the heat. Superior work & always were smiling and having a good time together. All were very respectful and courteous to myself and my wife. We'll be sure to use Mark and his crew on our next project."

"Jo and Lee Allison are the owners of the company, and I found them via Angi. I was apprehensive in working with contractors before, but they changed my opinion. They were very attentive to my needs, not forcing anything at me. Listened carefully, and were very accommodating to help make the total project work right. Super friendly people that were nice to my wife and kids. They gave great value for reasonable price, and went above and beyond to ensure things I didn't even ask for were taken care of. Very competent in what they do, and I am happy with the two slabs they did for me of 13 yd3 in total. They also worked long days and even in the rain and at night to help make sure their work met the grade. I took care of the payment to the cement company and paid them separately, and it all worked out fine. I would definitely recommend them for their honesty, hard work, competency and good nature to take care of anyone with a home project."

"As a new home owner, I am more the thrilled by the high quality of work done by Indian Summer Pool and Spa. I called Doug Fender (one of the owners), who made an immediate appointment with me to discus my plans to expand my patio, along with three other companies. Doug when through all available options, costs and expectations on the job I wanted done. Not only did he have a great team of employee's show up on time, they had everything organized from ground prep, rock deliver, concrete delivery, and temporary fencing down to the minute. I was very impressed with the owners showing up to make sure that I as a home owner was happy with each step of the process and that every employee was very efficient and knew their area of expertise. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing work done on a project you want done right. Just a note not only did the come in on budget, but the other companies I called did not have any where the game plans or explain the details of what to expect. This is a company you will be happy with."

Storm Shelters questions, answered by experts

When comparing the costs of portable containers vs. storage units, the monthly rates are often higher for portable containers. However, you don’t have the hassle or potential extra cost of hiring a truck or movers to transport your items to a storage unit location. If you have to add these costs, a portable container can work out better value for shorter-term rentals.

The average cost of a tornado shelter is $7,520, but there is considerable variation based on the shelter's size, complexity, and type. A shelter big enough to fit 15 people may cost as much as $30,000, for example.

An underground shelter may cost more than an aboveground shelter, particularly if you need to excavate before installing it. If you already have space in a basement for an underground shelter, you'll still need to pay for waterproofing and concrete to construct it.

Outdoor kitchens enhance entertainment space, increase home value, and provide convenient cooking in outdoor settings.

This answer varies based on where you are, but most states require that all homes are greater than 320 square feet. Remember that four walls are not the only requirements—windows, closet space, minimal ceiling heights, and indoor air quality are also factors. Each state and municipality differs, though, and as some don’t consider tiny homes permanent shelters, you’ll need to check to ensure you aren’t violating any local or state laws with your build.

Unfortunately, there are many disadvantages to stone houses. They are slow to build and the materials are pricey, both of which balloon the total cost. Stone walls require a more robust foundation, which costs more to install. Running plumbing, electrical, and HVAC through a stone house is much more difficult too, so homeowners need to seriously consider if the aesthetic benefit is worth the cost of building with stone. One of the questions to ask a masonry contractor is if a similar aesthetic can be achieved with another material.
