"Stephen was very professional. They arrived on time every day, and always asked questions each step of the way to ensure we were happy with the outcome. When we didn't like the cabinets that were picked out for either side of the fireplace, Stephen custom built ones to our liking. We were very please with his services, would definitely hire him again."

"The work was done in a very professional manner and I was delighted with the results. The guys worked quietly and without any fuss. Since there was a seperate entrance to the basement I often hardly knew they were there. They were very respectful and parked their vehicles in the road rather than the driveway so the family were free to come and go. Justin arranged to have City inspections and was always here when those were done. In fact a problem was discovered from the original home construction and he took care of that too. As if this writing there has been a leak from one of the drains in the bathroom that the company placed. Justin has returned and fixed the problem and has promised to take care of the ceiling stain caused by this."

"I hired Brandon to do some odd handyman jobs. I was very pleased with his work. I contacted Brandon again about remodeling my bathroom to accommodate a wheelchair. He did an excellent job. I like the fact that he's a perfectionist in his work and doesn't charge extra for that. I also thought he was reasonably priced for the work he done. I would and will hire him again."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

Yes, it is possible to turn a regular basement into a walkout basement. Doing so involves excavating the land around at least one side of your basement foundation, installing retaining walls to create a permanent below-grade area outside your home, and then cutting into the foundation to install an exterior door that leads out to the new space. This is an expensive and time-consuming project, but it can add a lot of value and utility to your home.

Lifting a house and adding a basement is one way to add usable square footage. Lifting or jacking a house is a complex process, and it can be expensive, not to mention that you won’t be able to live in your house while it’s lifted, due to safety concerns. Lifting a house should only be done by experienced professionals.

Envision the type of bar experience you'd like to create for your guests. For example:

  • Does your basement have enough finished space for bar stools or seating?

  • What type of additional lighting would set the tone for the room?

  • Are there basement windows or an HVAC system?

  • Do you need new plumbing in your basement for a proper wet bar?

  • Could you be happy with a built-in wall cabinet bar rather than a full-scale wet bar?

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.
