"The owner was very helpful with determining the scope of work required. He didnâ t try to upsell or inflate the jog. This was a relatively small railing repair however the service was top notch. I would recommend this company to anyone."

"We had the trim done throughout our downstairs, and I honestly can?t believe what a difference it made. They were so easy to work with professional, respectful of our home, and knocked everything out much quicker than I expected. They really listened to what I wanted, paid attention to the little details, and the finished product turned out even better than I had pictured. It completely transformed the space and made our downstairs feel so much more finished and put together. If you?re thinking about having trim work done, I can?t recommend them enough. We?re so happy with how everything turned out!"

"Aron is extremely competent and knew how to dismantle a stair railing system that was 20 plus years old. Flawlessly!! Great ease and perfection. Unfortunately due an unforeseen problem with the incompetence of a “non-Angie painter”, Aron was not going to be able to reinstall the railing. The painter ruined the staining process …….ascribed the railing. Had nothing to do with Aron and a huge disappointment for me because Aron isxtruelyva madtercatcwhatchecdoescwith stair railing removal and by his history before my incident, a master at putting them back in."

"We received the pads, they are exactly as we ordered, seem to be excellent quality. We would certainly use this company again. The only thing that could be improved is acknowledgement of our order (which we mailed in--almost has to be done this way since one sends a graphic of the table shape with the order). We thought they would probably email us when they received the order and/or let us know about when to expect it to be filled. What did happen was that after a while, we called, and got that confirmation and estimated time over the phone."

Stair Companies questions, answered by experts

Costs involve labor, material, and extent of repairs. Simple fixes are cheaper, while major structural work or high-end material repair increases costs.

Yes, many services include refinishing as part of the repair process. Confirm with your contractor.

A handrail should start at the bottom step's riser and extend to the top riser, continuing slightly beyond both the top and bottom steps if possible. A good rule of thumb is from the nosing of the upper landing to the nosing of the lowest step. This extra length provides better grip and safety when entering or exiting the staircase.

Key signs that a railing or staircase needs replacement relate to instability, visible damage, and component failure. Check for any wobbling, creaking, or looseness when you apply weight. Visually inspect for cracks, splits, and damaged or missing balusters or spindles. For exterior deck railings, also look for specific signs of weather damage like visible rot, warping, and rusted hardware. Additionally, any railing that is outdated and does not meet current building codes should be replaced to ensure safety and prevent falls.

If your home already has stairs and you’ll be upgrading or improving them, then stairs can increase home value. However, it depends on whether a potential buyer wants stairs in their home or not. Some buyers may prefer to have everything ground level or may have difficulty climbing stairs, so that feature might deter them from buying.
