"Did an excellent job installing new guttering & gutter guards. Showed up on time and let the site free of any debris. Price was very reasonable and fair. Definitely would use them again!"

"We had John come to clean out the gutters on the back side of our house. It was a really small, insignificant project but John treated it like it was much more important than it was! What a breath of fresh air! He was prompt, professional, personable, good communicator and knew his stuff. I would recommend John in a heartbeat.....wish I could give 6 stars!"

"Hollon landscaping and Lawn Care is an excellent organization and I would highly recommend them, and have, to friends and family who are also very happy with their work. Benson and his crew took my yard that was covered with mulch(yes the whole backyard), removed the mulch, added pavers around my fire pit, paver walks to my raised gardens, steps down to my driveway and beautiful dark green grass through out the yard. All his hard work and creativity made my backyard a livable space to entertain in. Benson is honest, hardworking, and never fails to do a great job!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

Ice dam removal is costly, but it’s absolutely worth it. If you leave an ice dam as is and don’t take care of it, you’re looking at potentially dangerous situations and high-cost repairs—like roof collapse, leaks, mold problems, gutter damage, and more. Removing ice dams is essential to keeping your home and your family safe in the snowy season.

You can use hot water to melt ice from your driveway, but there are some serious caveats. Very hot water can quickly melt ice and remove it, which is helpful if you’re very short on time and need a solution ASAP. However, it will only work across a small area, after which there’s a chance the water will freeze again. The sudden clash of temperatures is dangerous for fragile materials, notably windows and other glass, so you’ll want to keep the water away from your car.

Rubbing alcohol may also remove ice from your driveway in a pinch. It has a lower freezing point than water, which expedites the unfreezing process. Pour 70 percent isopropyl alcohol into a quart or half-gallon spray bottle and spray it on your driveway. You do not have to dilute it with water.

Whether or not an annual snow removal contract is worth it depends mainly on location. If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall, a yearly contract could be better than paying per clearing. If you live in an area where it only snows a few times a year, paying per snowstorm may be a better option.
