"Preston of G-1 Plumbing performed the services and addressed the toilet & drain problem. He was unable to stop leak(made it worse) & submitted his recs to Choice Home for review. I was unable to understand Choice Home's response regarding the faucet leak. Their review stated faucet needed to be replaced BUT it was under "builder's warranty." I built this home in 2005. There is no "builder's warranty" now. I cancelled the proposed work order & paid out-of-pocket. A Friend, who was familiar with my builder and knows faucet components, came to my home, adjusted/cleaned the faucet cartridge and stopped the leak. The CHW tech, Preston, is conscientiuos, however, IMHO lacked the knowledge & experience to stop my leak. Home Warranty Companies, at least in my area, hire owner/operators who need the work to build their business and are NOT the most experienced/knowledgeable & are willing to work for less money. In my experience, Home Warranty Companies want the CHEAPEST resolution, not the BEST. I would recommend G-1 Plumbing for most plumbing issues."

"I would highly recommend Greg Hill. He’s a great guy and he knows what he’s doing. We appreciate all the work he did on our new church project. He took a 112 year old building and turned it into a modern day sanctuary, kids church and offices. We are totally loving it."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

During home building in Sikeston, professionals closely inspect your soil and foundation conditions. The expansive clay soils in the Bootheel region make soil-bearing capacity a top priority. Evaluators also check flood zone maps to determine foundation height requirements. Because the area has flat topography, surface drainage and stormwater management are carefully assessed. Finally, experts confirm lot setbacks, zoning compliance, and utility access to ensure your project meets all local standards.

Helpful?

Flood zone maps and base flood elevation data are foundational for shaping home building decisions in Sikeston. This information dictates your foundation type and minimum floor elevations. Soil survey data identifies load-bearing capacity, which directly informs structural choices. An elevation certificate and a current property survey help define your true buildable area. Finally, reviewing utility infrastructure records and past permits reveals existing conditions that guide your entire construction process.

Helpful?

When hiring professionals for home building, verify they hold an active state license and proper insurance. Choose contractors with experience navigating local building codes and inspection schedules. They must understand the specific challenges of building on expansive clay soils in the MO climate. Ensure your contractor has deep knowledge of flood zone construction requirements. Always ask for references from local projects to confirm their expertise matches your specific structural needs.

Helpful?

Start by checking your flood zone designation, as homes in certain zones face strict elevation requirements. Assess your soil stability, looking for sticking doors or cracked drywall that indicate foundation movement in MO clay soils. Review your existing zoning classification to confirm your planned structure is allowed. You should also evaluate lot drainage patterns and inspect existing infrastructure, like older electrical panels or plumbing, to ensure they support your home building goals.

Helpful?

Allowing the soil around your foundation to dry out during summer droughts causes shrinkage and structural movement. Blocking drainage swales or neglecting gutter maintenance redirects water toward your foundation, accelerating damage to your home building work in the wet MO climate. Ignoring crawl space ventilation traps harmful moisture. Changing landscape grading after construction pushes water into your walls. Delaying exterior sealant maintenance allows moisture infiltration, degrading framing and finishes prematurely.
