Customers say: Terrific value

Call on the team at Rev it Up! to help with your home improvement needs--large or small. Plumbing, electrical, flooring, painting, or room renovation. We're conveniently located in Saint Peters, MO, and we serve all of St. Charles and St. Louis Counties.

"Hired Rev It Up Home Solutions to do 4 jobs, the final being tear out and reinstall of master bath tub and surrounding tile. I experienced multiple issues of very poor workmanship: 1) brand new tub hit with drill 5-6 times during install, leaving visible damage requiring repair; 2) installation of cement board placed up to tub lip on two walls but over lip on one large wall, resulting in angled wall- upon request Mr. Keen did redo this wall, however seems to indicate overall lack of knowledge of job; 3) Several issues with tile placement- misaligned/crooked tiles; 4) caulk and sanded grout left all over tiles, vinyl edging and tub surface (originally Mr. Keen was going to use sanded grout, however I requested non-sanded due to tile manufacturer recommendation since this was glass tile, for some reason Mr. Keen still opted to use sanded caulk; 5) inadequate grout placement and missing grout near floor, leaving holes; 6) drywall was left with dents and scratches in surface and inadequate repainting; 7) half wall between tub and shower left unfinished with large seam in drywall; 8) baseboard removed, pulling paint from baseboard and wall, no touchup done. Mr. Keen did very minimal clean up related to job and did not notify me when several items in basement storage (below where tub being installed) got very wet. Pieces of sheet metal, screws and debris were left all over stored items in basement. In addition, screws, nails and metal pieces were left in driveway (appeared to have fallen out of Mr. Keen’s truck). In addition to the quality issues, Mr. Keen was consistently very unresponsive. Text messages would show that he read them, but just didn’t respond. Finally took me making reference to contacting BBB to get a response, but then the silence continued. Took the case to small claims and ended up winning a minimal judgment, however payment has not been received and Mr. Keen is again unresponsive to text and email. I wish pictures could be attached here...they speak a thousand words! Response to photos of finished job have included "did you pay this guy? It looks like a child installed the tile!" Do your homework, read reviews and get references for exact job being done. Will save you a headache in the long run!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

In many cases, installing new drywall will boost your home value. Replacing old, damaged, cracked, or wavy drywall is a great way to improve the look and feel of your home, as new drywall installed by a professional shouldn’t have any imperfections. Additionally, removing old drywall means you’ll have open walls, so you can install new insulation and address exposed issues with plumbing and electrical systems running behind the walls. All of these fixes will also add to your home’s value.

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.

Yes, wainscoting is installed directly over drywall. However, ensure the drywall is in good shape since it will support the wainscoting. If the drywall has issues, such as holes, mold, or mildew, repair them before installing the wainscoting. Alternatively, you can install a plywood substrate before attaching the trim.

The person’s skill will affect how many drywall sheets they can hang in one day. Some people can hang 10 or more sheets in a day, while others may only hang six or seven sheets. It also depends on the framing complexity since custom cutting and fitting the drywall can prolong the process.

You should wait at least 24 hours between each coat of drywall mud before sanding and adding another coat. This ensures the mud dries completely, although drying time depends on temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Lightweight muds dry faster, while heavier all-purpose compounds take longer. Always check for firmness and dryness before sanding or applying the next layer.
