"The pro was able to get the remnants of my old light pole removed, get the new light pole in place and the new light installed. It looks great and the light was brighter than the original when we moved in."

"My husband and I were totally pleased with hiring GetConnecTech.com. Robert C. Thomas arrived on time and did an excellent job. We had him hang a very heavy plasma tv, mirror, and clock on plaster walls. We are having him come back to put security lighting around the outside of our home also. We will definitely recommend this company to our friends and family."

"Miguel Lopez of M&R Services did an outstanding job and completed them per our agreement. He installed new external light fixtures and a plug in as well as moving light switches and coordinated wall board repairs. I am very pleased with his work. Punctuality and communication are some of his many strong points. I will call him whenever electrical issues arise."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post

One possibility is that they aren’t getting enough sunlight during the day, which could be due to a lack of sunshine in your area or trees blocking the solar panel. Alternatively, if the solar panel is dirty or the batteries are dying, your solar lights might not operate at full brightness.

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

It’s not illegal to fly an American flag at night without a light shining on it, but the U.S. Flag Code notes that it’s respectful to provide illumination. Installing a flagpole light is also common practice and will add more to your home’s curb appeal at night. Choosing a solar-powered or battery-powered light for your flag is an affordable way to provide illumination.

Local building codes typically require conduit around exterior wiring. Conduit protects the wire from moisture, extreme temperatures, sun exposure, and harsh weather conditions to prolong its lifespan. When a wire is worn out, it can be dangerous as the risk of electric shock or fire increases.
