Next, he was supposed to replace the gravel with mulch and then plant about a dozen native grasses where the shrubs had been. Instead, he put the mulch on top of the gravel, which made it impossible to plant the grasses because of the depth of gravel and mulch. Carlos was able to carefully remove the mulch and save it to use after he removed the gravel. He also suggested that we leave a border of gravel along the house and use edging to separate the areas, which we did. Last, he planted the native grasses exactly according to our specs, and everything came out great. Before starting the work, Carlos discussed the situation at length with us to help determine the best approach.
