Customers say: Quick response

"JDs painting stained our cedar sided lake house and garage. David was great to work with and is a master communicator. His crew was professional and very helpful with recommendations to make the end result the best. We used a different color to trim out the windows, doors and facia. It looks like siding now. We also required a cedar siding repair on the chimney area. David brought in a carpenter to perform the repair at a reasonable additional price. Additional small repairs were completed the pairing crew (e.g. Woodpecker holes) The completion of the project checked all the boxes which is hard to do at the Lake of the Ozarks. We are a very satisfied customer!"

Small jobs welcome

"Based on his many 5 star recommendations, we hired Mr. Frye to paint most of the rooms, crown molding and trim, on the first floor of our new home. We had a very tight timeline to get the work done before we moved in. Not only did Mr. Frye complete the job as promised, but he did so with excellence and at a fair price. We are very pleased with the finished project. Mr. Frye is highly skilled and has a work ethic to match. We will certainly be hiring him in the future and would not hesitate to recommend him to others. If we could give him a 10 star rating we would!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, professionals offer slip-resistant options for added workplace safety.

Ipe wood can last up to 75 years with minimal maintenance because its own oils help to preserve it. However, to get the most out of your Ipe wood deck, you should perform some routine maintenance, including regular cleaning, sweeping of leaves and debris, and rinsing spills with a hose. It’s also important to repair any deep scratches as soon as you spot them and reseal the deck annually to protect against scratches and scuffs.

The staining or painting process involves cleaning the deck, sanding surfaces, applying a primer (if needed), and carefully applying stain or paint for an even, lasting finish.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

You can refresh a painted deck by either giving it a thorough cleaning or refinishing the deck altogether. Chipped or faded paint, as well as extensive damage, often calls for a new finish. To do this, remove the original coat of paint with a sander and add either a new coat of paint or a stain to protect the wood below.
