"Steve Burleyson did an excellent job remodeling our master bath. Working alone, he removed our existing shower enclosure and replaced it. He also installed new shower doors. He pulled out the bathroom sink and toilet and laid new tile flooring. He was efficient, courteous, neat and professional. We also had glass block windows installed in the master and hall bathrooms by this company. The work was done quickly and neatly and we are extremely happy with the results."

There are a few ways to unclog a toilet without a plunger. Break up the clog with homemade solutions containing soap, vinegar, and baking soda, or simply let hot water spend some time in the drain. A standard toilet flange should fit snugly into the outflow pipe and sit level with the subfloor. Installing a new one without first removing the old one will make it impossible to form a seal and keep the toilet bowl bolted securely in place. 

However, if you’re dealing with leakage or wobbling because you’ve installed a new type of bathroom tile (making the floor taller), you may be able to avoid fully replacing the flange by opting for a toilet flange extender. Extenders typically come in kits for easy DIY installation, fit over the existing flange, and bring the drain connection higher.

A broken flange could lead to serious issues. When a flange breaks, the toilet is no longer secured to the subfloor, which leads to constant rocking when in use. Over time, this breaks the wax seal between the toilet and flange and causes leaking throughout the substrate, bathroom floor, and ceilings below the bathroom.

Your toilet handle might not come back up if the nut is loose or the bolt threads are stripped. Try to tighten the mounting nut and wrap plumber’s tape around the handle bolt to fix stripped threads. It’s possible the handle was improperly installed. If that’s the case, you can use the instructions above to correct the handle’s position. 

The average cost to replace a toilet seal ring is around $50 to $200 if you hire a pro to do the job. If you do it yourself, you’ll only need to pay for the supplies. Wax rings alone cost anywhere from $5 to $25 at hardware stores and can save you a lot of money compared to having a professional installation. At the same time, a licensed plumber knows how to properly install your new wax ring to prevent premature issues down the line.
