Customers say: True professional

"We have hired David and his crew twice. They painted our upstairs bedrooms including the ceilings and we were so pleased we hired them again to paint our dark paneling in our great room as well as our bar and a half bath. They did a great job and are so professional. David helped me pick out paint colors and made helpful suggestions. Everything looks so beautiful and we couldn’t be more pleased. We plan to hire them again in the future."

"Started on time, had some rain delays, but no one can paint in the wet. David, the owner, communicated with us regularly about said delays, and his crew always showed up when he said they would. His workers were at all times polite, accommodating and professional. Cleanup afterword was good, and some small things that needed attention were handled immediately. Our house looks great, which is the point, isn't it?
So refreshing to have contractors do what they are hired to do and do it on time, on budget and correctly."

"Tim repaired several items in my home including diagnosing a bathroom leak (that another contractor got wrong), Tim then repaired it, and then he replaced the drywall and painted the affected area to restore it to like new. Tim also fitted a window air unit for me that was not quite the right size and it looks fantastic. He also fixed a broken inner doorknob very quickly and fixed a nagging shower faucet leak. Tim arrived at the agreed upon time, and even called me when he was on his way. I thought the price was very fair and reasonable. Tim is well mannered and left the job areas spotless."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Painting over wallpaper is an efficient way to cover it if it’s in decent shape. Before painting over wallpaper, make sure the surface is clean and smooth. You may have to remove minor problem areas, such as lifted seams or small peels, with a sheetrock knife or putty knife. Add a latex- or oil-based primer to keep moisture at bay before painting. You’ll likely need two coats of paint to cover the area.

Once again, contact with moisture is the culprit here, though water-resistant varieties of wallpaper are less likely to become wet and develop mold. Using a high-quality exhaust fan or dehumidifier and leaving the doors or windows cracked after bathing will keep this issue at bay.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is designed to be removed without damaging walls, making it a good choice for renters or temporary design changes. However, damage to paint or drywall can occur under certain conditions. To prevent issues, the wall surface must be properly prepared before application—it should be clean, smooth, dry, and correctly primed or painted. Applying wallpaper to a freshly painted surface can cause the paint to peel off during removal. Additionally, removing the wallpaper too quickly or aggressively can also cause damage. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for both application and removal.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

Many types of wallpaper exist, from removable peel-and-stick options to more permanent options that involve pasting. You can also find wallpaper that you can paint over, wallpaper with a texture, and wallpaper made from various materials, such as vinyl. Some types of wallpaper are washable, which can be a great option for kitchens or if your household has small children.
