"William and the Road Co crew saved the day. I had another contractor string me along for months. I found Road Co and instantly got a response. I was told they were very busy but would get me on the schedule. As promised they came on the scheduled day 1.5 hours ahead of schedule. Everything went as planed with two coats of seal and chip. It is not recommended to seal brand-new asphalt immediately. You should wait at least three months after installation to allow the asphalt time to cure properly. Applying a seal coat too soon can trap the asphalt's oils and chemicals, preventing it from fully hardening. This can result in a weaker surface that is more susceptible to damage. After the three-month curing period, sealing the asphalt is beneficial as it can extend its lifespan by protecting it from water, UV rays, and other damaging elements.

Regular sealing, drainage management, and debris removal help prevent asphalt deterioration, protecting and extending surface life.

If you don’t want to seal the entire driveway using a squeegee, you can use a roller instead. Rolling the driveway sealer also provides an even, sufficient coating, although it might require more skills to control the speed and pressure. We don’t recommend spraying the driveway sealer because it would cause more splash, hence wasting more material. If anything, you may spray the sealant and go over the surface again with a squeegee to ensure proper coating.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet. 

The best time to seal a driveway is during periods of mild, dry weather, typically from late spring through early fall. For the sealant to bond and cure properly, it needs warm conditions. Avoid sealing in the winter when temperatures are too low.

For optimal results, follow these guidelines:

  • Temperature: Apply sealant when air and surface temperatures are consistently above a minimum of 50-55°F. The ideal range is often between 60°F and 80°F. Avoid applying sealer in extreme heat (above 90-95°F), as it can cause the sealant to dry too quickly and improperly.

  • Weather: Choose a time with no rain in the forecast for at least 24 to 48 hours after application. Rain can wash away the sealant before it has fully cured.

  • Timing and Cost: While spring and fall offer ideal temperatures, they are also the busiest seasons for driveway sealing companies, which may lead to higher costs due to increased demand. The best specific month will depend on your local climate.
