"I recommend A & M Tree Services LLC because they do excellent work at fair prices. They responded to my request for an estimate quickly and arrived on time to provide it. I accepted it and there was an opening the next day. The crew arrived the next morning and had my large tree removed and the yard cleaned up by afternoon."

"I was extremely happy with the entire Envirogreen Tree Removal experience! Ryan was very prompt to give me an estimate and even followed up a few days later to see if I had any questions. The price was very competitive, as I received about 5 other estimates. They cut down a huge tree in my son's yard, which required coordination of taking power lines down at 2 homes. Ryan coordinated this with Kirkwood Electric and everything worked out perfectly. His team worked so hard for several days on this big project and were very professional and nice. After the tree was down, Envirogreen cleanup up the wood shavings and small remnants in the yard and on the deck, then spread soil and grass seed in the yard. This company is really amazing and did a fantastic job! Ryan is very responsive and easy to work with!"

"10-26-20 I have never been this satisfied with a tree service in my life. I am 68 YO and the crew they sent me was clean, professional, courteous, and timely. They took all the dead wood out of 5 very large trees in my back yard, no boom work, all hand climbing. The cost was so reasonable and the clean up was excellent. If you have tree trimming to do and care about the health of your tress, call BAUMANN, I WILL AGAIN. JOHN G"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

For Bradford pears, damage from storms is common, and if the trunk splits, it can pose a danger to people and surrounding structures. The best thing to do in that instance is to have the tree removed. If there’s only minor damage to the branches, pruning away the damaged parts is the first order of business. You may also want to consult a professional arborist to make sure the tree is healthy.

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

You may be looking to identify maple trees to use for home improvement projects. In that case, you can tell hard maples by looking at their leaves. Leaves will have a U-shaped dip, or sinus, between the points, or lobes, of the leaves. Leaves of soft maples tend to have V-shaped sinuses.

If you already have the cut wood in front of you, look for a light, uniform color to identify hard maple wood and check for variations of red, gray, or brown streaks and an overall darker color in soft maple wood.

Trees naturally want to grow upward, so one may straighten all by itself, though this only comes into play when a tree is leaning just a small amount. For trees growing into an awkward position or those leaning heavily in one direction, the above steps are necessary to ensure the tree gets back on the right path. This also holds true for trees planted in a spot with unstable soil.

The best time to cut down a tree is during its dormant season, typically in winter or early spring, after all the leaves have fallen. Removing a tree during this period is advantageous for several reasons. Frozen ground helps secure the tree stump, protects the surrounding landscape from damage, and reduces the risk of the tree falling in an unintended direction. With the leaves gone, there is less risk of the tree's foliage getting tangled with other trees. Additionally, since this is often a slower season for tree services, you may be able to hire a professional at a lower rate. This dormant period is also the best time for tree trimming.
