24 years of experience

Inside Solutions, LLC. has been in business and serving the Johnson County/Kansas City Area since 2001. We are a family owned business servicing residential and commercial customers and we are committed to putting our customers first. We will never try to sell a product or service you don't need or that may provide more profit based on supplier incentives. What sets us apart from others is the fact that after a vast number of years in the industry, we have found which manufacturers produce the highest quality products for the best value. Many companies only offer products from a very limited number of manufacturers because they only carry those manufacturers' products. This does not guarantee the best products at the best price. Any manufacturer can produce window treatments, but only a few do it with quality and value. We are committed to keeping our promise: best quality at the best value. We accept Visa & Mastercard

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Doing your own upholstery work is possible, but it’s typically a better idea to leave the work to professionals. Without experience and the proper tools, it’s difficult to get a professionally finished appearance for your furniture, and many DIYers end up spending money on tools and materials only to hire a professional when they can’t get the fabric to look right. If you have reupholstery experience, feel free to give it a shot. However, if you’re not confident in your skill level or you’re working with antiques, it’s worth the money to hire a pro.

Yes, you can reupholster antique furniture, and it’s a great way to extend the life of your pieces and keep them looking fresh and new for years to come. In fact, since reupholstering furniture is significantly more affordable than replacing it, reviving antique furniture can be a cost-effective way to keep that family heirloom usable for much longer. It’s usually a good idea to leave antique reupholstering to a professional, as they will have the tools and expertise to ensure the piece isn’t damaged and looks professionally finished.

Paper moving pads, also called furniture wrapping paper or paper moving blankets, are sheets of recycled paper used to protect various items during moving. Similar to traditional moving blankets, paper pads are also reusable, making them a sustainable and cost-effective option for protecting your belongings during the moving process. Although they’re recycled, they still provide excellent protection against dust, dirt, and scratches.

When deciding whether to reupholster, repair, or replace old furniture, consider its age, level of wear and tear, and overall value. It’s usually better to repair old furniture because older pieces tend to be made out of hardwood, like oak and maple, whereas newer furniture is more often made out of plywood, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and other less durable materials. When determining whether it’s worth the price to repair a furniture item, calculate the price of buying a new, similar piece and compare that to quotes from local furniture repair services.

It is possible to reupholster directly over old material in some cases, and it can save you a bit of money. If you are going to go this route, make sure you use a darker color than you had previously. Otherwise, you might see the old fabric beneath the new material. You should also keep in mind that reupholstering over old material is only possible with certain materials. For example, reupholstering over leather usually isn’t possible. You can ask your professional to see if this is an option for your piece.
