".Chris and  his wife Cyndi were both very professional, courteous and helpful from the first contact with them via phone thru the service performed.  Chris checked the dryer out and could not find anything leaking. He then checked out the washer on his own accord.Chris is a man of integrity. He was honest and explained after checking both the washer and dryer he found nothing wrong with either. This dryer is at my Lake home and I was not present when it was serviced by my choice. His communication was outstanding. He came on the scheduled appointment day and time. Chris charged only a service call fee for his efforts. I will absolutely use him in the future for any repair needs and would highly recommend him to others in need of his services.

Small Appliance Repair FAQs, answered by experts

The most obvious sign that it’s time to repair or replace your microwave is that it is no longer heating food. If you notice your food coming out cold or not as warm as it used to, call a small appliance repair technician for help.

Some other signs your microwave is in need of service include:

  • It’s making strange noises during operation.

  • The interior plate no longer spins.

  • You notice strange smells or see smoke.

  • It’s close to or more than eight years old.

The average lifespan of a microwave is typically between 7 and 10 years, though this can vary. Some models may last as few as 5 years, while high-end or boutique brands can function for up to 15 years.

Several factors influence a microwave's longevity, including its make, model, and quality, as well as how frequently it is used and how well it is maintained.

To extend the life of your microwave, follow these maintenance and usage tips:

  • Clean regularly: Immediately wipe up spills and food debris. For stuck-on food, you can heat a bowl of water with a bit of lemon juice for a minute to create steam, which makes cleaning easier.

  • Maintain filters: For over-the-range microwaves, regularly clean the grease filter underneath to ensure it runs efficiently. Clean or replace other filters as needed.

  • Handle with care: Avoid slamming the door, as this can damage the door switches over time.

  • Use it safely: Never run the microwave when it's empty, and do not put metal objects or dishes with metallic trim inside, as this can damage the appliance and create a fire hazard.

  • Inspect the power cord: Periodically check the cord for any signs of damage.

A convection microwave has two different modes that enable it to operate as a microwave or a convection oven. Inverter microwaves specifically use inverter technology that makes them more effective and able to evenly heat food at a rapid pace. Some convection microwaves use inverter technology, too—the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Professionals guarantee precision installation, regulatory compliance, and the extension of appliance lifespan through proper handling and systems understanding.

Countertop microwaves are the most common type of microwave. This is because they don't require installation; all a countertop microwave needs is a stable surface and an outlet. Low-end countertop microwaves can be found for less than $100 with high-end models going for up to $700, making them an accessible option for most people.
