"We have been customers for many years and have used their landscaping program for about 2-3 years. I cancelled the landscaping only in late May, it was getting too expensive. Less than 4 weeks later I get an "estimate" that said everything was basically infested with pests and needed to "call today to prevent further damage." My husband called to ask why, so soon after our last treatment, everything was infested. Lindsey was very nice; she understood his concern and would have someone follow up. A week later, no one called so he called back and got a different lady who was patronizing, rude, and said "he was blowing everything out of proportion." She kept referencing that we had cancelled the service, even though he kept asking her why things were so bad after less than 4 weeks. She then admitted that the "estimate" was advertising and blown out of proportion, that maybe he saw ONE Japanese Beetle as opposed to "JB's present!! Needs immediate attention!!" THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING."

Mowing is one of the most important ways to maintain your lawn because it encourages grass to grow horizontally, creating a fuller, more uniform yard. On top of mowing your lawn, you’ll want to routinely fertilize your lawn, water it regularly, and take care of pests the moment they arise. 

A lawn that suddenly and quickly turns yellow is typically the result of a dramatic change in the grass's environment. Heavy rainfall can dilute soil nutrients, rapidly yellowing the grass, and dull lawn mower blades can dry out and damage the grass in a short time. Over-fertilizing can yellow a lawn within a matter of days. 

If the grass is dead, you cannot bring it back to life. However, you can grow new grass in its place or try the methods mentioned above to revive the grass if it isn’t entirely dead. You can expect St. Augustine grass to come back after moderate droughts, but it will suffer significant nutrient loss after an extended period of drought.

You can thicken new grass by using fertilizer, watering it 1 to 1½ inches per week, mowing when it is at an optimal height, and preventing weeds. You should fertilize your grass while you plant the grass seed, or soon afterward. Use an herbicide to prevent weeds or spot spray with herbicide to kill existing weeds.

At its core, soil pH is a measure of how many hydrogen ions are present in your soil. In highly acidic soil (low pH), plant growth is difficult due to reduced microbial availability in the dirt.

In highly alkaline soil, plants may struggle to grow due to iron deficiencies. In either case, a lack of balance deprives grass or plants of some key nutrients they need to grow.

A pH reading of 6 to 7.5 is ideal for most plants. Slight acidity is, generally speaking, less of an issue than slight alkalinity. Many plants can still thrive in slightly acidic soil.
