"let me start by saying that, I would not recommend them to remodel a dog house. I had to clean up after them each day that they where here an throwing away boxes sweeping up in the kitchen, after they where done, the garage as well. they did not finish the flooring under the stove until I looked, an said they where trying to save me money like another $60.00 was going to break me. He tried to supply me with a used scratched up sink they tried polishing it out for 3 hours, the scratches where so deep they would not come out. they scratched up the cover on the faucet plate I had to get a new one, to replace it while they where replacing the sink they scratched my new stove on the top when they where setting it in they scratched my dish washer corner installing the counter tops. they chipped my newly painted garage door bringing in the counter top. When I told the owner about how they had lost the plastic prong to the bottom of the dish washer an I found it in the trash he took of the jerry rigged screw off of it an put the plastic prong on an said he would have to order the other one, an that the dish washer door still would not close an it needed to be raised on the one side an moved out, so that it would close. obviously I will not recommend them to any one, I will how ever say that Celest who did the back splash did a great job. Cabinet refinishing takes an average of two to three days. The process includes setting up and removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding cabinets. You or your pro will have to address issues like chips, stains, or splits before applying paint or stain. Then the final stage includes painting or staining, reassembling cabinets, and cleaning up.

Sealing a cabinet after staining is optional but recommended for best results. Wood sealer keeps out moisture, which protects against scratches, warping, chipping, discoloration, and mildew. Sealer not only preserves the appearance of wood furniture but, like staining, enhances it by accentuating the wood’s natural color and grain.

Liquid sandpaper is a solvent used to soften existing layers of paint and make them porous enough that you can effectively apply a new coat of paint. You rub the liquid sandpaper on, wait for it to work, and wipe it off—no literal sanding is involved. Liquid sandpaper can save time and is helpful if parts of the cabinet are hard to reach with standard sandpaper. However, like paint stripper, liquid sandpaper creates dangerous fumes and must be used with care indoors. And unlike sanding, it can’t fix any scratches or dings in your cabinets.

Yes, sanding cabinets before you stain them helps the new stain better adhere to the surface. If you’re adding a darker stain to previously stained wood, you only have to sand them lightly enough to remove any finish and rough up the wood to improve adhesion. On the other hand, if you’re trying to stain wood that is a darker color or that has paint on it, you need to sand down to the original wood, or the color will show through the new stain.

If you prefer not to sand your particle board cabinets prior to painting, you can use mineral spirits and a rough sponge to add some grit to your medium-density fiberboard cabinets so that the paint will still stick. Keep in mind that using 120-grit sandpaper is still the preferred method for preparing your particle board cabinets for a new coat of paint.
