"I was, at fist, generally satisfied other than a tendency of theirs to make decisions for me without consulting me. A decision was made about the location of stairs from the porch without consulting me until after the posts were set in concrete. I would have made another choice but it was a done deal when I saw it. The porch has been a problem. One door was put on opening out only to hit an electric meter. I fixed that myself. Screens blew out of both doors. I fixed those myself and noticed they put screen over two places on each door where they could have secured it but didn't. Screens have been blown out of two wall panels by the wind. I emailed Mr McElroy about the problem and got no response. I fixed the two screens myself but I think I am going to have to re-screen as I can see three other places where the screen has come out. It appears to me they used the least expensive screen they could get and as little as possible. I am also disappointed at the number and size of the gaps between boards all over the porch. Wasps get in every day. One morning there were 9 wasps on the porch. I feel they hurried, cut corners and made arbitrary decisions to save themselves work and/or expense."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put wallpaper in a bathroom, but whether it's a good idea depends on several factors. Because bathrooms are high-humidity areas, it's crucial to choose a water-resistant wallpaper, such as one made of vinyl. Proper wall preparation is also critical to ensure the paper adheres well, even after many steamy showers. The wallpaper's placement also affects its longevity; it will hold up better on an accent wall or away from direct water contact, rather than immediately next to a shower. A well-ventilated bathroom will yield the best results.

Darker walls may make tight bathrooms appear even smaller, but one dark accent wall can really make a bathroom pop. Wallpaper with a dark background can add intrigue and sophistication. Still, if you’re looking to open the room up and give it a modern, airy feeling, light colors may work best for your needs. Although there are some popular and unpopular opinions, there’s really no “should” when it comes to personal design choice.

Ideally, you want to ask the wallpaper installers you’re considering for examples of past work, and references you can call. These will prove that the installer can handle your job, make your room look professional, and will also give you some insight into the kind of customer service you can expect. Before you start calling companies, you might want to narrow down your options by finding installers with mostly positive reviews online.

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.
