"Elliot Moles was super informative and explained everything to me in layman’s terms. Normally, I have experienced where men will only talk to my husband about the process and costs but Elliot made sure that he included me in the conversation. Also, our animals loved him!"

"Superb!  First off, the customer service and response time was great!  Kevin came to the house to assess and ended up giving us a wealth of information and education to help with potential "problem spots" in and around the home.  He gave us options instead of directing business only towards him (aka: wasn't trying to make a quick buck)--THAT alone makes me trust him and his business which is HUGE in today's world. We need more business owners like Kevin--ones we know are not trying to take us for a ride on the financial train!  Hats off to Kevin!  If we ever need him in the future--we will not hesitate to call him!  I HIGHLY recommend The Leaky Cellar! Many blessings to Kevin and his business.

I just moved.  Sellers had replaced all windows except in the basement.  Needed egress for basement bedroom.

Installation dates were changed but they did everything they could to get 4 windows in before new deck was installed.

There was miscommunication on the kind of windows for the downstairs rec room, which was under construction for remodel.  In that room I got 1 slider and 2 double hungs.  Not what I would have wanted if I'd understood.  It was miscommunication, but I told them it would've been helpful if they'd even drawn a picture or pointed out that there would've been two different types of windows in the same room.  We wound up constructing the room so the different windows would not be in the same room...made the storage area larger than intended, but it works.  Initially they said they'd change out the 2 double hungs.  Then they missed a couple appointments when they were to come back and install the 5th window.  At that point, I said, yes, go ahead and replace the 2 double hungs and just make it right.  They said they would but they would charge me full price.  It wasn't worth the aggravation since we

hadn't started putting walls up yet.....and were able to make it work.

Overall, this is a good deal.  I don't regret purchasing or working with them.  Ask lots of questions and make sure you completely understand the order!!  I do think they should've been willing to stand by the original offer and replace the 2 windows.  The expense on their part shouldn't have been more than labor since the windows could've been used on another project.  I would've split the labor cost with them.

One of the missed appointments on the 5th window was due to their supplier being closed Labor Day weekend.  Since I was taking time off work and trying to work around their schedule, more communication and advance notice of the delays would've been helpful.  The entire process just had a few bumps!!

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

They meet local code demands for escape routes, lighten basements, and aid in reducing overall humidity.

Yes, you can always make an existing window bigger, but the job complexity varies widely depending on the location of the window and the framing around it. Exterior walls are always load-bearing, so making windows wider will require structural changes that make for a more complex but doable project. Making windows taller often won’t require structural changes.

To find and hire a reputable contractor for an egress window installation, you should first research local professionals and then vet your top candidates. Start by searching for local contractors who specialize in this type of work, read their customer reviews, and examine their website and portfolio. Once you have a shortlist, contact them to ask key questions: Are you licensed and insured? What is your specific experience installing egress windows? Can you provide references from previous customers? Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors? What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule? How do you handle payment?

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

The entire window replacement process, from the initial consultation to the final installation, typically takes between four and 15 weeks. This timeline accounts for measuring appointments, ordering, and manufacturing. On the day of the job, the physical installation takes about 30 minutes to two hours per window. A full-house replacement can take one to three days to complete. Factors that can extend this timeline include the total number of windows, custom sizes, complex window types, second-story installations, and any necessary repairs to existing window frames or openings.
