Basically they claimed to the insurance company to have fixed a leak in my kitchen sink when they had not. I went over a month without the use of the sink or my dishwasher because the drain was leaking. The insurance/warranty company was reluctant to send a different plumber out because of the claims of this outfit....

He had lots of great ideas on how to finish the project - including adding storage areas and a pantry under the stairs accessible by hidden panels. We wouldn't have thought of that without him, and we love it. We added to the original scope of the project because we trusted Jake and knew that he would do a quality job in removing walls from our 1940's home. He worked with us extensively throughout the project and was open to changes we wanted to make throughout. His estimate was paid we paid, and no more. Jake's crew members were courteous, respectful, punctual and just downright friendly. We were completely comfortable leaving them in our home to work from the start. We lived in the home during this major renovation, and the crew always cleaned up whatever they could so we had as much space as possible to live. I would not hesitate to contact Jake at Aarow Building again to complete any of my home projects. We were lucky to have found him. We will post photos of the work that Aarow building did as soon as we are done with some other minor renovations in our home. I told him and he removed a section of my skirting, looked under and saw a pipe that was caked with ice. He said that they hadn't actually completed their previous job yet -- they had gone to pick up supplies and stopped at my place to see what the issue was. He advised me to put my space heater down there to thaw it. I knew that I wouldn't be able to tell if/when it had thawed unless I heard it running. So I went in and turned on the hot water at my kitchen sink. Of course, it still wasn't flowing but I just waited until I heard it running and yes I kept watch over the space heater. About 40 min later, I heard water running in the kitchen. So I turned it off, ran outside to see if there was any sign of water gushing (if it had burst, it would be gushing now that it thawed. They returned about 20 min after the water started flowing again. Greg went under and inspected for leaks and said he saw no sign of any. He proceeded to put up some insulation for me to prevent it from happening again. They do exactly what they say they are going to. They charge exactly what they say they are going to charge. They clean up after themselves. It's as if they were never there. They are fabulous. He's a Christian man and he taught his son his craft. He's been a contractor for many years as well as all of his subcontractors. Every contractor in Jefferson City and Columbus respects Jude Markway. He is an amazing contractor. They came, they worked everyday. Every subcontractor they suggested (insulation or drywall subcontractors) are just as wonderful as he is. There is not a better contractor than him. When they came to remove the wall, they were here for 2 hours, made no mess, and did exactly what they came to do and charged exactly what they said they would charge. He's fabulous. They will do as much as you want. I wanted them to do it to the point of unfinished because my son-in-law, I have some rough maple that they will use to finish the beam with. They will do it to any point that you want. They had worked in another house of ours but that was a couple of years ago. My mother owned a home and it was built in the 50's and the floor had lost it's support in one corner from moisture. The boys got in, they took out the hardwood floor, they put new joists underneath the floor, replaced the floor, quick and simple. There is no way to discribe what an honorable wonderful man he is. I asked my son, who works as a contractor in Jefferson city, who can build the living room and the sun room on for mom? And then of course, he built the walls for the bathrooms. He cut through and made a door so that there's a bathroom on one side and a bathroom on the other side, it kind of makes a small hall for about half of the kitchen. Then the rest of it is kitchen. And then she has the bedroom in the front. So it is a conventional ranch but we gave her the 2 bedrooms so she now has a sun room, a living room, a bathroom with the full shower on one side and the vanity on the other and then it kind of creates a hall where they cut out the window where the bathroom is. Then you walk into the kitchen. She has a stove, sink, refrigerator. Then she has her bedroom at the front. So, she has all the privacy that she wants but she's right here with us. We worked together with Jude to plan that. You might think you know what you want. I had this big idea. What Jude will do is sit down and ask you, what is your budget and then he's been in the business so long that he can tell you from the slope of your yard or the style of your house or your roof line or whatever, what will work best for you. You don't need someone to draw plans. They work from simple drawings. From their concrete people, who came first, to pour the foundation, from their concrete people to the drywall finisher, they were an amazing group of people. I thought his pricing was extremely reasonable. I mean, he build on a 22 foot room, an 8 foot sun porch, reroofed the house and finished it to drywall and paint for $20,000 and that included roofing the entire house, not just the part that he built on. That was totally reasonable. I can't even imagine anybody being any more skilled, any better, any more experienced. If they tell you they are going to be there at 3:33 they are there at 3:33. Those are the kindest, most patient, most respectful boys I have ever met in my life."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mo/jefferson-city/jude-markway-construction-co-reviews-449767.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"AAA Handyman & Hauling","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"MO","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Cynthia W."},"reviewBody":"The painters did a good job with the painting and clean up. The workers that worked on the floors did a good job. The drywaller also did good job. The contractor, Mark Williams, charged us twice for the same job on the drywall. Overcharging $150. He did admit this. His record keeping was poor. He was pleasant to talk to but very unprofessional. Had us get several gallons of paint too many. We were not able to return these. Half way through the job (we were having more work done on the kitchen), he did not show up for scheduled appointments and never returned our calls. Despite repeated calls, we never heard from him again. Had to get another contractor to finish our project. I would suggest to stay clear of this company. It was $85 an hour for 2 people and they charge from the time they arrive at the location to the time they leave, rather than charging from the moment they leave their facility to the time they return to their facility. They arrived on time and the truck was clean and had mats and padding to protect items. They wrapped items that needed it and worked steady from beginning to end. Nothing was damaged and they did well trying to put boxes in location indicated on box (i.g. Master Bedroom, Kitchen...etc). We would use them again. He stated it would be 4 weeks to make the cabinets, which turned out to be a little longer due to snow storm delays. He was always very friendly, efficient and professional. Their office manager, Martha, also was very helpful when we called. Two men came to install the cabinets and did a great job. (They also spent considerable time helping us hang a rug on a wall by our entryway stairs. It was quite a challenge due to the height and working over the steps.) The basement bookshelves/cabinets are high quality and look great! We would definitely recommend this business to others and are thinking about using Lage's to customize some built-in cabinets for our closet. John says they now have a computer-assisted design program for that."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mo/jefferson-city/lage%27s-cabinet-shop-llc-reviews-4825482.htm"},"position":10}]}

This was a complete nightmare! The countertops were not measured correctly so the distance between the countertops and one section of the wall were twice the distance as the other sections. They sent someone out to put another sheet of drywall up so the backsplash could be installed. Wasn?t...
Miserable! Let me just say that if you are considering this company start running now in the opposite direction and do not stop! After telling me they could do it from the inside but it would require replacing our hardwood floor they found they couldn't do it that way and all I had to show...

"Inadequate footing was poured for the 2 main posts. I requested a 3 post and told it was adequate. Within weeks one of the 2 posts buckled. It was repaired and a 3rd post added. The added 3rd post also had inadequate footing. The entire deck began to sag. The last day they were here they left tools in the yard and never returned. THEN I hired another contracted who had to lift the entire deck up with a series of jacks. The old footings barely were deeper than ground level (on a slope). New footings were poured and main posts were all re-aligned. Numerous lag bots were added. Hurricane ties were used to keep the roof from lifting in strong winds. Three posts were added where the deck was anchored to the side of the house. Two more posts were added at the exterior stairway and on the opposite side of the deck to prevent sway. A Double stringer was used to reinforce for sagging down the underside of the middle of the deck. If not for the work by the 2nd contractor I believe the deck would have shifted and collapsed."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts
Enhances home value, modernizes living space, and improves household efficiency.
It is cheaper to paint kitchen cabinets than to replace them. Painting costs range from $400 to $1,300, based on the size and complexity of the project and the average costs in your area. In contrast, replacing kitchen cabinets can cost several thousand dollars, including materials, installation, and potential modifications to countertops and plumbing.
DIY refacing is possible if you're skilled in precise measurements, cutting, and finishing, but hiring professionals ensures a seamless finish and durable results.
Any of your garage shelves should be able to hold heavier loads, but it’s best to place heavier items on middle shelves. The only reason for this is to prevent injury—lifting heavy loads from down low requires squatting or bending over, which can lead to back injury, and lifting heavy loads off of high shelves in the garage can be especially dangerous if you drop them.
Thermofoil cabinets are an affordable option for anyone who is trying to revamp their home on a budget. They are durable, come in many styles, and give your home a whole new look without breaking the bank. However, if you are looking for a long lifespan out of your cabinets or want to add resale value to your home, then you should consider higher-quality cabinets instead.
