"They called sand came out to talk to me about the job. They were able to start right away and explained everything to me. They were done on time and I was happy with my driveway. I would hire again"

"We got our bid within 5 days of requesting an estimate. They were comparable to other companies in price and we were impressed with their professionalism. After a few rain delays, they arrived to do the work. They removed some cracked concrete from the original driveway then paved over a previous asphalt from about 12 years ago. They were quick and finished in 1/2 day. The driveway looks great. The only disappointment was that one of the workers came to the front door with some residue on his feet and now we have permanent shoe prints on our sidewalk leading to our front door. Not sure how to get rid of it. The rain doesn't wash it away."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

The three most common types of asphalt are hot asphalt, MC cold mix, and UPM asphalt. Hot asphalt is used most often for paving and patching roadways while it’s hot and workable. MC cold mix asphalt cures more slowly than hot asphalt, but it can be used for temporary patches and repairs in low-traffic areas. UPM is also used cold, but it can be used as a longer-term fix, usable in almost any conditions at almost any temperature.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

Professionals restore the surface to a fresh, attractive finish by applying a new, even sealant layer.

Yes, recycled asphalt driveway costs can be substantially lower than new asphalt. With new asphalt costing between $90 and $190 per ton, this option can cost as much as 10 times more than laying down asphalt millings.
