Arborwise Tree Care is a full spectrum tree service in Rochester MN, with one of the few ISA Certified Arborists in the region. Arborist certification ensures a fundamental understanding of tree biology and proper management practices. It also qualifies a knowledge of rigging physics and safety practices in the most dangerous urban job in the world. The difference between a salesman and an expert are qualifications that you can trust. ArborWise is a small, family owned tree service that has taken on some of the largest and most technical projects in the Rochester, Minnesota area. At ArborWise, we are so productive because we work both smarter and harder, and love what we do. Our goal is a job well done, and our many satisfied customers can tell you that.

"I wasn’t able to be there as work was done. Workers were friendly and polite. Cleaned up after themselves."

Jack of all trades handyman services. I offer lower prices because I have low overhead costs. I don't get paid until your happy. I am a skilled tradesman for the Army Corp of engineers full time but I have a very flexible schedule which allows me to devote 3 days a week or more on my side business. I use other skilled craftsman and laborers when needed depending on the job. I work with clients budgets and both parties always leave happy.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It is possible for you to cut down your own tree, but only take this project on if it’s a small tree and you’re experienced handling a chainsaw. If you need to use a ladder to cut down the tree or tree limbs, it’s too large (and dangerous) for you to remove yourself.

Hire a pro instead who can safely remove the tree without injury to you, themselves, or your home. Either way, look into tree removal regulations for the state you live in before having a tree removed to ensure it’s not a historic tree or protected by your city.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

A tree growing close to a house can cause problems, but cutting it down isn’t always the best solution. Trees planted close to your home could damage your foundation as their roots grow. In addition, they can drop large branches on your house, make it easier for critters and insects to access your home, and encourage mold growth. But if the tree has been there for a long time, it may not pose a risk to your foundation, and it could be more beneficial—not to mention cheaper—to strategically trim it instead. Your best bet is to consult an arborist for advice.

A tree can split because of high winds, a change in temperature, or from an infestation or tree disease. All of these factors can overlap, making a single cause difficult to pinpoint. While winter storms are some of the most common causes for a tree to split, it can also happen because of termites or rot.

Trimming your palm trees once or twice per year keeps them healthy and robust. Caring for palm trees includes cutting off brown leaves to prevent wildfires and pathway obstruction. However, you don’t want to over-trim the palm tree. Cutting too many branches off will weaken the tree and prevent future growth. And it’s essential to have a strong, healthy palm tree during hurricane season to prevent safety risks or property damage.
