"Some of the work performed by Unlimited Masonry was not satisfactory and when the work was completed. This was communicated to the owner, Sam. He told us to allow it to dry and if it still wasn't what was expected, they would return and perform the required repairs. Based on his word and handshake, I paid for the work in its entirety ($3170). After a couple of weeks, I contacted Sam and he agreed to perform the repairs. A repair date was scheduled, but Unlimited Masonry never showed up or called to provide an update. Matter of fact, I haven't heard from Unlimited Masonry, since Sam took payment. I logged a formal complaint with Home Advisor, and they were able to reach Unlimited Masonry, but they refuse to make any repairs AND aren't willing to go to Arbitration and let an independent party, review this dispute. The integrity of a business is its greatest attribute. I feel Unlimited Masonry lacks this because they committed to making repairs, and I now believe their only intent. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. Also, most reputable businesses would stand behind their work and would have no issue with Arbitration. The fact that Unlimited Masonry refused Arbitration says volumes about them as a business and the owner's character."

Do not use super glue to hang lights on brick unless you want your lights up year-round. Hot glue is a better choice because it’s easily removable with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Super glue is very hard to remove, and you could tear off parts of the brick in the removal process.

Unfortunately, there are many disadvantages to stone houses. They are slow to build and the materials are pricey, both of which balloon the total cost. Stone walls require a more robust foundation, which costs more to install. Painted exterior brick does not usually need sealing. Brick is a porous material, so you don’t want to apply a sealant that could trap moisture inside the bricks and cause erosion and structural damage. The risk of moisture-induced damage after sealing is higher in colder climates where trapped moisture can expand if it freezes. On the other hand, it makes sense to seal really old brick or kitchen backsplashes, where moisture from cooking can weaken the brick.

You can turn a red brick white through a process called whitewashing. Whitewash isn’t a stain but rather is made from water and white latex paint. Adding more water to the mix will make the solution look lighter when applied, and adding more paint will make it look more white.

A roller makes an excellent paint tool for brick. Using a roller can ensure the entire surface area gets painted evenly. If you choose a roller for painting brick, go for a thicker option, at least a half-inch. The key to using a roller while painting brick is making sure paint gets into the various crevices for even coverage.
