"This whole project could not have gone smoother for us. From Adam L. helping us understand the process and getting us scheduled to Isaiah S. and Matt N. doing the work on site, we couldn't have been more pleased. All three gentlemen were friendly, professional and answered all of my (many) questions. I highly recommend Innovative Basement Authority...I wish I could give 6 stars."

"Nice people, kept me informed and I could tell they knew what they were doing, this wasn’t their first rodeo. Only complaint was despite having a Bobcat on site all day, they never used it to smooth over the dig site and push the unearthed rocks to the side. I’ve been working on that ever since."

"I was very pleased with the work done! Integrity Sewers responded quickly to our needs! We had a broken pipe going from the house to septic tank. He responded to my phone call right away and came to the rescue. Septic issues are never fun but having such respectful and knowledgeable help put me at easy. Everything was taken care of quickly and at a fair price. This is a company's number that I will hold onto and will gladly pass on others!"

"Leigh showed up on time. Knowledgeable, confident, a breath of fresh air after dealing with others I have worked with so far. I think I have a good judge of caricature and Leigh I feel came across honest, straight forward and I am happy so far. Compared to the last contractor We hired which was April 2020 and still have not finished it. The job and the paperwork. Leigh was 100 percent better to deal with!!ð"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, staining a brick home can increase a home’s value, assuming your pro does a good job and you keep up with maintenance tasks. Staining brick is a much better way to increase a home’s value than painting brick, as the latter can cause chipping, warping, and bubbling. Brick stain, on the other hand, gets absorbed by the surface, so it can still breathe.

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.

No, you don’t need to soak the brick before cutting it by hand. In fact, cutting a wet brick can make it harder to see your score lines and may cause the chisel to slip. Soaking is sometimes used with power tools to reduce dust, but for hand-cutting, it’s best to work with dry bricks for better control and visibility.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

Yes, limewash on brick can accumulate dust over time. Its porous nature can attract dust particles, especially in environments with high levels of dust or dirt. Additionally, if the limewash surface is left unsealed, it may be more prone to collecting dust. Additionally, incorrectly applied limewash will generate dust. Causes include applying it too thickly instead of thin layers and not allowing enough drying time between layers. Regular maintenance, such as gentle cleaning or dusting, can help mitigate dusty issues.
