"Scott listened to our project plan ideas and helped us achieve them! Very high quality workmanship. Scott did our entire new kitchen cabinet install including an island that went perfect. He also did our crown moulding and base trim throughout the main floor. The attention to detail was outstanding and we appreciated that he really cared how our kitchen was going to look. Our home looks great and we couldn't be happier with the work. It's been two years since the cabinet install and everything still functions perfectly :)"

"Andy and his crew did a great job re-roofing shingles on a 3 car garage. He kept me informed along the way, did a great job with the installation and clean-up. Highly recommend. All contractors should be this good."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Complex plumbing is tricky and expensive in an off-the-ground dwelling like this. By considering options like composting toilets, rainwater collection, and gray-water sinks, you save money and help the environment.

Ranch and colonial-style homes are often the most affordable to build. They have a common layout with available designs that are easy to adjust in simple ways without having to spend too much on a structural engineer or architect. Both types of homes' symmetry, simple roofs, and often one or two-story plans mean they often fall in the $150 to $200 square-foot range, putting them right around average.

Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.

Your chicken coop needs to be off the ground to protect your chickens and avoid problems brought on by flooding, mud, and moisture. If you can't locate a high area to build the coop, you should build an elevated coop to ensure it stays dry.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.
