Small jobs welcome

"Josh did an excellent job of fixing some wiring problems we had. I was contacted quickly and the repair work was completed the next day. I am very satisfied with Meyer Electric and would highly recommend them for electrical work that needs to be done. Also, I found their repair costs to be very reasonable. I will definitely contact them for future electrical work."

"Starlight Electric did a fantastic job on the electric part of my current home improvement project, and even better they did it for an affordable price. They took the time to explain what they were doing and spent the extra effort to make sure even the little things were done right. We will be hiring Starlight Electric for all our electrical needs."

"We recently had the entire house rewired, as our old wiring was from the 1930's. This was a challenging project, but Kory from Halle Electric was incredibly proficient. He managed to pull new wiring through our tongs-and-grove walls and ceilings without the need for excessive drilling or cutting. I highly recommend Halle Electric and look forward to working with them again for any future electrical projects. Kory truly delivered excellent service at a price we could afford. 5 Stars..."

"It was okay. Once I called him, he came quickly. There were additional charges. He broke up the wall and that never got fixed. He did the electrical stuff. He did what I wanted him to do. They were just average. They adequately did what I wanted them to do. He broke the wall and I didn't like that. He didn't even say anything. He came right away when I called him."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Soldering is a reliable and durable way to connect wires, but it isn't the only method. Nowadays, professionals often crimp the connection instead—although this requires a higher degree of skill than soldering.

The Biden Administration banned the sale of incandescent light bulbs for general service lamps in 2023. All household light bulbs must meet a minimum efficiency of 45 lumens per watt, three times that of a standard incandescent light bulb.

The main motivation was to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. It is expected that banning incandescent light bulbs will cut over 200 million metric tons of carbon emissions over the next 30 years. Some bulbs are exempt, like chandelier lights and Christmas lights.

No, you don’t need to hire an electrician to install your garage door opener. Garage door professionals have the skills and expertise to install the wiring necessary to connect the opener to your home’s wiring system. When hiring a local garage door professional to install your system, make sure the opener task is included in the list of provided services.

People who have experienced blown fuse have occasionally tried to fix the problem by placing copper pennies in the fuse box. While they are good conductors of electricity and can seemingly “fix” the issue,  they don’t protect against short circuits or fires. Putting pennies in a fuse box is dangerous—the best solution is to call a professional electrician to fix the problem.

In many cases, you can sell your house if it has aluminum wiring, but you are likely required to disclose that fact during the sale. In some cases, your city or area may have banned the sale of homes with aluminum wiring, so you’ll need to update the wiring or arrange for its replacement as part of the sale. In some cases, it will benefit your home sale to replace the wiring system before putting it on the market.
