Small jobs welcome

"Josh did an excellent job of fixing some wiring problems we had. I was contacted quickly and the repair work was completed the next day. I am very satisfied with Meyer Electric and would highly recommend them for electrical work that needs to be done. Also, I found their repair costs to be very reasonable. I will definitely contact them for future electrical work."

"Starlight Electric did a fantastic job on the electric part of my current home improvement project, and even better they did it for an affordable price. They took the time to explain what they were doing and spent the extra effort to make sure even the little things were done right. We will be hiring Starlight Electric for all our electrical needs."

"We recently had the entire house rewired, as our old wiring was from the 1930's. This was a challenging project, but Kory from Halle Electric was incredibly proficient. He managed to pull new wiring through our tongs-and-grove walls and ceilings without the need for excessive drilling or cutting. I highly recommend Halle Electric and look forward to working with them again for any future electrical projects. Kory truly delivered excellent service at a price we could afford. 5 Stars..."

"It was okay. Once I called him, he came quickly. There were additional charges. He broke up the wall and that never got fixed. He did the electrical stuff. He did what I wanted him to do. They were just average. They adequately did what I wanted them to do. He broke the wall and I didn't like that. He didn't even say anything. He came right away when I called him."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Grounding is an essential part of installing an electric fence. Without grounding, the electrical circuit will be incomplete. That means the fence won’t work and will fail at delivering shocks upon impact. Even grounding the fence improperly can cause faulty shocks, if any. To ground the fence, you will need to use ground rods, ideally made from copper or galvanized metal, that are at least 4 feet high, for best results.

To reduce AC startup power for a whole-house generator, install a soft start kit or hard start capacitor, which lowers the initial surge by gradually ramping up the compressor. Using a smart load manager can also help by staggering startup loads, preventing a system overload and future costly repairs.

The National Electric Code states that outlets should not be spaced more than 12 feet apart, and there should be an outlet placed every 6 feet at the floor line in areas designated as living spaces. Most homes in the United States have 75 outlets, but it will depend on the amount you need based on your home's size and your needs.

You don’t need an electrician to change an outlet—but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hire one. Working with electricity can be dangerous, not only for you but also for your home and the members of your household. There’s the risk of electrocution, poor wiring burnout, and electrical fire. When you hire a licensed electrician, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your electrical outlets are installed correctly and up to code.

The major difference between a GFCI breaker and an AFCI breaker is that a GFCI breaker protects against fatal shocks while an AFCI breaker prevent electrical fires. A GFCI breaker senses when the electrical current to ground is overloaded and trips to prevent major accidents or injuries. AFCI breakers trip when it detects dangerous electrical arcing.
