Customers say: True professional

"Amy is awesome! She’s a very talented designer and and helped me make some great updates to my home. She came for 6 hours over the course of two months, and she walked through each room giving advice on what fits with my style and how I might rearrange things to be more stylish but still practical with two young kids. She helped me move furniture, hang artwork, remove pieces that didn’t fit, choose paint colors, and pick out new pieces like a large mirror and a new light fixture for our dining room. She was very fun to work with and helped me figure out my style, so I have more of a direction when buying new items on my own. It was nice to spread out her visits over time, because I was able to buy a few new pieces and do some of the work, and then have her come back and get more advice on arrangement/style. I would definitely recommend working with Amy - you won’t be disappointed!"

"Randy’s was an excellent company to work with. Our technician was thorough and took the time to talk through different options. We initially had them out for a few outlet installations but ended up having outdoor lights replaced in the back and front yard lights fixed."

"Ron gave us great design ideas that were beautiful and that fixed a long standing drainage problem. It was a large project (60K) and his design was best and his bid was the lowest of 3 that we received. The work crew was extremely competent, hard-working, polite, and respectful of our privacy and property. We’re totally pleased with the outcome and feel we received good value for the investment."

"Excellent work at a fair price on a reasonable timeline. Kurt went the extra mile to assemble a chandelier that came in (literally) hundreds of pieces, and he was a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be hiring for lighting and electrical work in the future."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

The easiest and best way to power your outdoor lights is with the use of outdoor outlets. Most building codes now require exterior outlets in homes, so you likely already have outdoor outlets available to plug into. However, you can have these outlets installed if your space doesn’t currently include them.

Although security lighting may not deter a determined burglar, its presence will make your property that much less enticing to would-be trespassers. When paired with other types of home security systems like alarms and surveillance cameras, strong lights will better help you and the authorities identify thieves in the instance they attempt to break in or succeed at doing so.

Yes, outdoor lights and receptacles should be on a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for safety. The outdoors is considered a wet location where GFCI protection is generally required. A GFCI enhances safety by automatically tripping and shutting off the circuit if it detects an imbalance, which protects against electrocution and reduces the risk of an electrical fire. While it is the safest approach for all outdoor electrical components, specific requirements can vary depending on the type of light (e.g., pool lights), its location, and local electrical codes. For guidance tailored to your specific situation, it's best to consult a professional electrician.

Local building codes typically require conduit around exterior wiring. Conduit protects the wire from moisture, extreme temperatures, sun exposure, and harsh weather conditions to prolong its lifespan. When a wire is worn out, it can be dangerous as the risk of electric shock or fire increases.

The cost of lamp repair generally ranges from $30 to $150, with an average cost of around $75. Common repairs like rewiring or replacing a switch typically cost around $60 and $80, respectively. The final price depends on factors such as the type of lamp, the complexity of the issue, and the parts required. Keep in mind that repair costs may be higher for ornate or antique lamps. It's a good practice to ask for a price quote from a professional lamp repair service to determine if the investment is worthwhile.
