"David Marshall is a very hands-on, attentive contractor.  He helped me in some of my decision making, particularly with the lighting and flooring, as I have absolutely no knowledge in those areas.  Prior to hiring them I had already contracted with an interior painter to refinish and paint my kitchen cabinets and walls.  David and his friendly, talented crew worked collaboratively with my painting contractor and worked out a schedule between themselves so that the job could be done in an organized fashion so they weren't stepping around and over each other.  The thing that impresses me the most about David is that he always called to check on my satisfaction of the work on a regular basis and actually came to my home on many occasions in the afternoon to check on the work and make sure I was happy.  He always called me back in a timely manner if I had any questions or concerns.  Every single person that I encountered on his crew was friendly, polite, courteous and professional.  I have recommended him to several of my family and friends and have plans for them to work on some projects for me in the spring.  I would recommend their work to anyone.  What wonderful service!"

"The man who came, cleaned out the back of the refrigerator. He was even kind enough to let me clean the floor when he moved the refrigerator out. When he got done, my refrigerator purred. He was wonderful. I also liked the fact that I sent in my request online on a Sunday and my refrigerator was fixed before noon on Monday. My first call with this company and I am very very pleased."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

If you also need to know how to fill the gap between the floor and the baseboard, it's best to use a flexible, paintable latex caulk. Clean the area thoroughly to remove dust and debris. Then, apply a smooth bead of caulk along the gap using a caulking gun, and use a caulk-smoothing tool to press and smooth it into place. If the gap is large, you may need to insert backer rod, such as a foam filler, before caulking. Once dry, paint the caulk to match the baseboard for a clean, seamless look.

Few home upgrades add resale value above their installation cost, including terrazzo floors. However, they are still a good option if you like the look. While terrazzo may be expensive, it has a solid return on investment of around 55% to 70%. The durability and low maintenance requirements of terrazzo can be appealing selling points, as many buyers will appreciate flooring that can last 40 to 100 years.

In most cases, laminate flooring is better for people with dust or other allergies as laminate is easier to clean. Carpet can trap pollen and other allergens, allowing them to be kicked up into the air again with foot traffic. Consult your flooring specialist about the best types of carpet or laminate flooring to use based on your household member’s needs.

Berber is the most expensive type of carpet, followed by textured carpet. Berber costs $3 to $20 per square foot, and textured carpet ranges from $1 to $12 per square foot. Berber features fibers arranged in short, thick loops, making it extraordinarily durable. The most expensive carpet material is wool, followed by acrylic, Triexta, and cotton. Wool costs $4 to $20 per square foot and is a beautiful, luxurious, and durable material. Acrylic, Triexta, and cotton range from $2 to $8 per square foot.

It takes about one to two days to remove carpet and install laminate flooring for small and medium-sized rooms. A larger room may take an extra day to complete. If you’re replacing flooring throughout your house, expect closer to one to two weeks, depending on your home’s square footage.
