"Hal is a bit of a character and drives an old truck, but he is very pleasant and takes great pride in his workmanship. One of the few times in our history of several home projects where a project has exceeded our expectations."

"We had Jordan and his crew replace our roof this summer. Communication was very good throughout the job, very impressed with the work the crew and him did. We also had our front door replaced this winter. Again, top notch work as I’ve come to expect. I would highly recommend Jordan and his crew at Heyer Grounds."

"Everything went well. Jimmy always gave great service and a great dose of confidence the job was completed right. Every job we gave Jimmy was satisfactory and we never had to call him back. Unless of course we needed another project completed."

Lawn Care - Maintain and Mow a Lawn

In business since 2017

"Jordan does most of the work, a few times, he sent out his brother, Isaac. Jordan has been my regular "Lawn Guy" for many years (before he even had a drivers license). He does lawn mowing, weed whacking, he checks my gutters for proper operation, and helps me seasonally with my lawn furniture. Jordan has been very helpful, and I would recommend him to anyone."

"She came she climbed and by the time I got home she was finishing it up. It was fairly quick and nothing got damage. They also gave me a lead on stump removal which was great cuz really had no idea where to even find people for that type of work cuz it's not like you have a hindering tree take down on a weekly basis or anything but yeah good job and thanks!"

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

If you have a lot of trees around your home, mulching all those leaves can smother the lawn. Air and light won't reach the grass and soil if too many leaves have been mulched. Turf grass and other lawn problems can arise if the weather is too wet and excessive leaves have been mulched.

The best soil to put around a house foundation is fill dirt, which is soil that’s specifically designed for covering large areas and filling in holes. Don’t waste money regrading around your foundation with expensive topsoil. Use topsoil only for the last layer of soil, about 5 to 10 inches, so that when you do your foundation planting, your grass and plants will have the nutrients they need to grow.

While you can put gravel directly on dirt, it won’t be very stable. It also won’t block out any weeds. Most experts recommend layering weed barrier and a layer of packed sand or other foundation material to prevent the gravel from sinking into the earth and being overtaken by weeds.

Mulching any time of year can attract termites, so there’s no added risk in the fall. The important thing to remember is that termites are attracted to rotting wood, so you need to lay a thin enough layer that won’t trap too much moisture and lead to rotting. A layer between 1 and 4 inches thick should provide all the benefits you’re looking for without attracting termites.

Hydroseeding is a great option for sloped yards, as sod might not root as well. Hydroseeding also traditionally creates sprouts faster than normal seeding—up to a full week faster. Additionally, you can customize your slurry mix with hydroseed, allowing you to create a mixture that will work specifically for your yard’s conditions.

It’s important to remember that hydroseeded lawns require a lot of water during the first few weeks of installation, which can be time-consuming and costly. Additionally, the installation window tends to be shorter than that of sod and traditional grass.
