"They contacted me right away, came out the next day and repaired my problem professionally and fairly quickly. The price was a little higher than average ($449 vs $289 from others) yet I couldn't get anyone to follow through to repair it. The pipes were probably troublesome with corrosion and I was wasting water. I would use them again."

"Doug did an excellent job finding the location of the frozen section of the drain pipe. He needed to remove a toilet to get the proper equipment to the frozen blockage. He purchased a new wax ring to replace when reinstalling the toilet. His process of thawing the frozen blockage worked great!! It took several hours and he charged $200.00, but it was well worth it!!"

French Drains questions, answered by experts

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.

Water leaking through your basement floor is a good sign of a clogged drain, but another sign of a clogged basement floor drain can include unpleasant odors coming from the drain. Also, hearing gurgling noises when water drains from the basement or having other plumbing fixtures (like toilets or other drains) backing up is a good indicator.

Bleach is generally not recommended for your shower drains. Although diluted bleach can technically help clean your drain, it will not unclog your pipes. In fact, bleach can harm your plumbing system because it’s so powerful. The bleach can change the color of your sink and even corrode metal pipes and fittings.

Often, people reach for bleach because it's already in their house. But it's worth getting a plunger or a drain snake for the job instead. It'll be a lot less money to buy a new plunger than to pay a plumber to repair or replace damaged pipes.

Biodegradable drain cleaners use naturally derived ingredients, such as baking soda, vinegar, and boiling water, which bacteria and other microbes can break down. Unlike conventional cleaners that rely on corrosive bleach (sodium hydroxide), biodegradable options are gentler on fixtures and less harmful to the environment. Because they don't release harmful gasses, they are also safer to use, especially in households with children, and do not require the same safety precautions as bleach-based products.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.
