"Sean Walsh and his team arrived right on time at 8:30 am and worked throughout the day to complete the job. They were very efficient and cleaned up behind themselves thoroughly. Then they explained the system operation to me as they were testing it. Their price was very good and they use high quality materials including Toro spray heads and controller. The system works great and I love listening to the sweet sound of silent and effortless watering. Then, a couple weeks later, I needed a little help setting up a special program and they sent one of the guys out to show me what to do. They are very professional and courteous. Thanks, Sean!"

"The attention to detail and the price paid for the project are the two biggest factors when selecting a company for work. I highly recommend Dan Bailey and his Minnesota Grown Services company. My property has never looked this great! Thanks to Dan and his staff."

"My garden area (about 585sqft) had become taken over by weeds & brush because at 81 I was unable to clear it. Also many tall weeds & saplings were growing along the base of my 75’ chain link fence. They cleared out & trimmed everything perfectly & efficiently. Christian & his assistant arrived promptly worked quickly. The free estimate was precisely what I was charged."

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Clover lawns stand up better against dog and cat urine than traditional turfgrass. If your pets love to hang out on the lawn on a sunny day—or if you find yourself with a lot of visiting neighborhood dogs—you could save yourself from yellow and brown patches by making the switch to a clover lawn.

Bermuda grass is one of the fastest-growing warm-season grasses because of its system of aboveground stems (stolons) and below-ground stems (rhizomes). Adequate water and sunlight in a warmer climate will nurture the spread of Bermuda grass. This rapid growth rate makes Bermuda grass resilient and effective at choking weeds. However, this aggressive advancement can also make the grass difficult to contain and control.

You can thicken new grass by using fertilizer, watering it 1 to 1½ inches per week, mowing when it is at an optimal height, and preventing weeds. You should fertilize your grass while you plant the grass seed, or soon afterward. Use an herbicide to prevent weeds or spot spray with herbicide to kill existing weeds.

First, make sure you’re watering your grass early in the morning (and keep in mind you don’t have to water every day). Doing this helps ensure the water is able to soak in before the hot temps evaporate all of the water. Also, when you mow, don’t mow your grass as short as you would in non-drought conditions. Taller grass can help slow down the rate at which soil dries out. Finally, take your leftover lawn clippings and spread them out across the lawn to give it a little extra shade and nutrients.

If you're already planning to hire an electrician and you know that you'll get billed the minimum call-out charge, you might as well make the most of it by having the contractor do another small job like replacing a light switch or electrical outlet. Even if you're paying for a new coaxial outlet, which costs several hours in labor, you may be able to save a little or maximize value by getting them to do other related jobs. For example, if you're having a coaxial cable moved, it's worth checking if you also need another electrical outlet in the new location or considering where else you would benefit from a new outlet . The cost to install an electrical outlet is around $200.
