"From start to finish Luke did a fantastic job with our project. We needed our driveway apron raised so it would be level with our garage and needed several voids filled in to prevent further water damage. I called on a Friday and Luke drove out to us on the following Tuesday to give us a quote. He took the time to explain his approach to the project, estimated cost, and even provided us with a free tube of caulk (even though we hadn’t committed to his services yet). He was friendly and professional and did a great job for a very reasonable price. We would definitely use Slab Boss services again and recommend them to anyone who needs a polyfoam lift or void filling."

"Sam and a colleague did all the work.  They were on time, very professional and did fantastic work.  I really appreciated how they brought me into the loop before they moved forward with each part of the project.  All in all, I was very happy with their work and I am considering them as a front runner to finish my basement later this year."

"Initially I was skeptical as the contractor was headquartered almost 100 miles but I figured if he was willing to come this far or give me a bid it was worth consideration. Turned out very well. Chris gave me a no nonsense bottom line bid in about 10 minutes time vs an hour or longer of salesmanship from other bidders. Ultimately Chris’s bid was by far the least expensive for similar materials and product. He is a one man show and his son helps him out on weekends. I would highly recommend him."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

You can seal a concrete slab by cleaning the surface, filling in any cracks, etching the surface, applying a sealer, and letting it dry. Concrete slabs don't typically need sealing, but you can use a topical concrete sealer if you notice signs of water damage. If you haven't already fixed the cause of the leak, then you'll want to repair the plumbing before you seal a concrete slab.

Several types of insulation are effective for crawl spaces, with spray foam and rigid foam boards being two of the best options. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is a strong choice because it effectively repels moisture, resists biological growth, seals the air, and provides excellent thermal protection, especially in hard-to-reach areas. Rigid foam insulation boards are another excellent material as they insulate well, resist water damage, and will not settle over time like fiberglass or cellulose.

The best ventilation for a crawl space is a fully encapsulated crawl space with its own separate ventilation system. If you go this route, ensure you have the proper crawl space code requirements done and dusted before encapsulating your crawl space with a moisture barrier and installing appliances that may not be up to the proper specs.

Installing storm windows can protect your home’s interior from heavy storms. Most storm windows are made with enamel-coated aluminum with screens and sliding glass panels. They also make your house more energy-efficient. The average storm window cost is $12,000, ranging between $4,250 and $19,850, depending on mounting, window types, glass types, and frame materials.

Water can seep into porous materials like wood beams, floor joists, and roof rafters within minutes, but they’ll need to see prolonged exposure before you have structural damage. Mold can start growing within 24 hours, and mold can eat away at the structural components over time. Wood rot is more of a concern, though. Wet and dry rot are fungal infections that set in in moist conditions and rapidly deteriorate wood, causing major structural damage within just a few months in some cases.
