The job was completed in July 2022. As of today, April 13, 2023 I am still waiting on them to come back and remove the tar that their crew got on my neighbors house. Was promised no out of pocket cost, but had to pay over $2k. No communication about this until the payment was due. Claimed to work miracles, but do most miracles end with a customer being blindsided with $2k out of pocket... not in my book. Roger, Dale and the crew have been very hard to get a hold of. I have called the 3 call center numbers and still haven't received a call back. They have said countless times they would resolve their error but nothing. just more empty promises. Its just frustrating. They have their money. Now come and finish the job.

Our experience with Welter construction this past year was hellacious, to say the least. There were many times when we were left speechless at how we, paying clients, were being treated, spoken to, and how they were handling our situation. In an attempt to keep this brief here is a summary of our experience. The original project manager, Ethan, was one of the worst PMs we have ever worked with. His words mean nothing - he says he will show up at X time on X date and when you call to see where he is he forgot about it. We later learned we were not the only ones and that many others (with much bigger projects) were being treated the same way. After being left to handle an inspection ourselves, because he “forgot,” we made the decision to no longer speak with Ethan and moved our communication to Brandon, who was also working on our project. Brandon’s communication was much better and was the saving grace in this entire experience. Do yourself a favor and go with the other bids if you come across Welter construction in your searches. The contract states they will dispose of all trash, which is false, as well as HORRIBLE communication (don’t expect Rodger, the owner, to ever pick up the phone or call you back) until of course it is time to collect payment! If you hire this company, be prepared for terrible communication, forgetfulness, blaming others, a lot of frustration, failed inspections due to a lack of attention to detail, cigarette buds INSIDE + throughout your property, and an owner who will belittle your complaints and concerns into a, and I quote, “that is just construction” statement. The owner will treat you like garbage and next to Ethan, is one of the most unprofessional people we have ever met. It makes sense how I am later reading how he has multiple complaints to the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry for bad business practices. Looking back, this was the worst investment decision we made throughout the duration of our project. When we share our story with other contractors we hired, they are appalled. The stress that resulted from working with this company is incomparable. Our friends, family, and neighbors are all aware of our experience and to never hire this company for future projects. We wanted to share our experience in hopes other homeowners do not have to go through what we did.

Welter has turned a 15’ x 15’ addition with small deck from a contracted 4-6 week project into a 16 month project from h***. From the beginning the blueprint didn’t tie the addition to the house, they didn’t order materials when they said, cut open my roof and left exposed causing water damage, used all of my new house touch up paint as primer, left trash across the street without a dumpster, stored materials on my lawn killing the lawn, ordered the wrong size windows, cut open the walls before confirming window sizes, hanging tacky plywood, and demanding payments before work was complete. They take your 40% deposit and then disappear for months at a time. They don’t answer the phone or return emails and texts in a timely manner, and when they do they lie. They don’t honor what they say, and go back on their word demanding exorbitant change orders to do work if not explicitly documented in plans. They use subcontractors busy working on other projects, and don’t show up when they say and don’t clean up after themselves. Roger the owner is a legend in his own mind, and is the most unprofessional person to his subs and clients. He’s seeking final payment before state electrical and city inspection. He’s censured by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry for multiple bad business practices. Don’t believe what his salesman say, they only want your deposit to keep his business afloat. It’s been over 2 months since the owner said he’d get his production manager would contact me to wrap up the project professionally but still haven’t been contacted and no work has been completed.

Would do zero stars if possible....very unprofessional...would even go as far as to say a scam. Third party contractor that was getting paid $60 per square was sent to do our roof, and Welter never told us they were coming. They showed up at 6:45 and started working and needed me to move cars etc, I had no idea they were coming. Did not pass inspection, horrible workmanship, incorrect installation, we are actually hiring Owens Corning to come out and Inspect Poor installation of their product. Very unprofessional. Looks like they have been ripping people off left and right. They can take me to court for the second half of payment...they will lose, we will most likely be re-doing the roof ourselves. Sad to know how many people they have taken advantage of because they don't know what to look for or don't get on the roof to check. SCAM...LOOK ELSEWHERE

Great customer service. On the first trip out, the plumber realized that some of the tile on the floor in front of the dishwasher would need to be removed before the dishwasher could be installed, so we had to reschedule. But they offered to get me in touch with their handyman if I needed help. I was able to coordinate the handyman coming out at the next visit. The tiles were removed and the new dishwasher installed, despite some unexpected complications. The plumber went above and beyond to make sure I was able to have my new dishwasher installed and functioning that same day. I would definitely use this company again.

The service started in the fall of 2015, due to a hail storm in June.  The roof was done right away once the insurance company got done with the inspection.  The rest of the work was delayed due to weather and possibly some miscommunication between Welter and the insurance company - that is why the rating for Punctuality was given.  By the time that was straightened out, winter was upon us, and the deck had to wait until spring.

Most of the cost was covered by insurance, but I decided to replace the garage window completely instead of trying to repair what they covered.  That also added some time due to a backlog at the window company.  Everything was successfully completed in mid-July.

All in all, the work looks good, and they remain in my list of providers for future projects.  Hopefully, next time without an insurance company as an in-between.
