"Overall was a great experience. Reliable company and customer service. Labors are professional and fast doing quality work. A big system is not cheap, but it is dependable and a wet basement again is way more expensive. I am very happy with our basement system with the interior basement system, triple sump, and dehumidifier."

"We got estimates from several places. We wanted to do something a little bit unique but also inexpensive, and we were open to different ideas. Hal (who owns the company and I think is in charge of all the work) offered good ideas and design at the same price as other companies were offering something highly generic (we didn't want yet another dog-eared fence). The design incorporated both what we wanted, and ideas on his part that kept it affordable and added some interesting design features. He got the designs together, got feedback, and did custom woodworking of many of the pieces. He pushed us ahead of schedule to get posts in before we did some walkway work that we wanted to build in around the posts. They finished everything up later as planned, Hal was on site the entire time. We did have a problem with the design of one of the gates, it didn't match what we had discussed, but he saw the problem and redid that portion of the work. So, I feel good about the experience. The result is solid, usable, attractive, and was affordable. A minor complaint is that he did the cutting of treated wood on our lawn, and I'm pretty sure the chemicals from the sawdust damaged the lawn -- the grass still isn't as healthy in that spot. Also the curve of the arch didn't match our existing entryway arch as we had discussed, but I didn't really feel like making an issue of it after it had already been fully constructed. In retrospect for something very exacting like the curve of an arch I might want to lay it out on graph paper to make sure we had exactly the same thing in mind."

"I don't complain about the amount of work they did for the amount of money they charged. There is no issue with that. I'm sending them photos and they are talking design with me and I decided after I met someone here to have the designer walk through the house and to be able to talk with them more than once, I just decided that this long distance design just wasn't for me. I'm not a very conventional guy but it was just too long distance and unconventional. I'm sure it works for some people. I thought I would give it a shot, it was inexpensive. It isn't that no good information came out of that. It is no complaint about the company, it just wasn't for me."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

The cost to pipe a sink depends on the location. Generally, you’ll spend somewhere from $150 to $500 installing plumbing under a kitchen sink and $200 to $800 installing plumbing under a bathroom sink. These costs could rise if you don’t have a plumbing hookup nearby and you have to reroute plumbing from outside of your kitchen or bathroom.

There are a few reasons why this could be the case. More than likely, your flapper is worn out and needs to be replaced. When it’s worn out, it lowers the water pressure during each flush leading to inefficient flushing. Luckily, replacing a toilet flapper is a simple repair that should only take about 30 minutes.

To file a claim against a plumber, you’ll need to contact their liability insurance company. You can ask your plumber for information about their insurer, or you can refer to the documentation you collected before you hired them. Let the company know you need to file a claim, and they’ll provide you with the next steps. Alternatively, you can ask your homeowner’s insurance company to help you file.

No—you should always shut off the power and the water supply to the tank. Shutting off the water ensures that your water heater won’t continuously refill while you are trying to drain it, which would likely cause a big mess! Make sure to allow the hot water to cool completely before continuing the process of draining the heater.

Most of the time, homeowners are responsible for replacing a main water shut-off valve. This is because the property owner also owns the water service line from the shut-off valve near their property line to their house. That means they must maintain, repair, or replace it when needed.
