"Christian Bros. Review In April we hired Christian Bros. Outdoor Services, LLC in Fremont to remove a 3 foot 3â  diameter x 65-foot-tall oak tree from our backyard. We had three companies quote the project with Christian Bros. being very competitive. Jay was our primary contact with Ben and two other men being the team that took down the tree. Safety for the workers and protection of collateral property was paramount and very obvious as Ben scaled the tree and took it down a branch and piece at a time. Everyone was very respectful to my wife and I and patient with us as we went back and forth with catering to family that wanted the wood, but were naà ¯ve to the scope of work to handle such huge logs. The reason we hired a tree rigger instead of the typical crane and bucket crew was because of potential damage to our yard and in-ground sprinkling system. Obviously, with the equipment needed to bring down and handle such a big tree some yard damage was inevitable. Divots and vehicle tracks are repairable with a little fill and grass seed. The best part of the experience was watching Ben take the monster down. He shimmied up the tree with large branches being let down on ropes. He was clearly a master of knots! We are very glad we hired Christian Brothers. Iâ  m a little jealous of Ben though, my wife really liked his English accent."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is highly recommended to remove tree stumps. Leaving them in the ground can lead to several problems, as they are not only unsightly but can also reduce your property's value. Stumps can obstruct landscaping plans, make mowing difficult, and hinder new growth. More importantly, they are prime breeding grounds for pests like termites, ants, and mice, which can spread to your home and cause costly damage to its wood and foundation. Stumps also attract fungi and diseases that can infect other healthy trees and plants in your yard. As a stump decays, it might sprout new, unwanted shoots. While removing a stump is an investment, it prevents these potential issues and enhances the safety, health, and appearance of your landscape.

Horticulturist is a broad term for any type of plant and soil expert. An arborist, meanwhile, specializes in all aspects of tree care. You should hire an arborist when you need assistance with tree-related tasks, such as pruning large trees, removing trees, diagnosing a sick tree, or emergency tree services. Horticulturists aren’t qualified to handle those types of tasks.

Trees are beneficial to the environment and wildlife. If you have an old tree, but it’s healthy, it may be best to avoid cutting it down. However, if it’s showing signs of bug infestation, disease, or is potentially hazardous, then you should contact a tree removal company to cut it down.

If you are unsure whether you should have it removed or not, then speak with an arborist to determine what is best.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

No. Most of the time, suckers are only a sign that the tree is experiencing stress. However, they can also be the canary in the coal mine, letting you know that something else is stressing your tree. If you have lots of suckers on your tree, calling in an arborist or a tree care expert is always a good call to determine the cause and develop a solution that de-stresses your tree.
