"After living in the same home for 40 years my wife and I decided it was time to move. We found the Acadia Homes model and fell in love with the design. We sat down with John and discussed our options. John was extremely helpful in showing us the home that we were interested in. After signing the agreement we met with Kristine to assist us in our selections of paint, tile, cabinetry etc. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. Once the construction began we me with Frank the builder and Karl the superintendent to discuss any last minute changes. Both men were very accommodating and knowledgeable in their field. When the exterior was complete we met with Bill the finish superintendent who coordinated all the electrical, plumbing, painting etc. He always met us with a smile... Our experience with Acadia from the signing of the agreement to receiving the keys was a very pleasant experience. We love our new home and would highly recommend Acadia Homes to anyone looking to build. Larry & Francesca Gilbert ."

"I hired O&A in 2020 to redo my kitchen. When I met Chris, I felt at ease, like he was a trustable person, and I think he is. He is responsive, and a really nice guy. However, the quality of work done to my kitchen is inexcusable. Take a look at the photos. By the end of the project, I just wanted them out of my house, so I let it go but every time I walk into my kitchen, I feel regret. The backsplash is janky, the granite has issues - including a HUGE space between the top of the wood and where the granite stops. I put a google review up, and he took his whole business down. My 20K+ job was a "small job". I don't know about you, but 20+K to me is not small. He hired subcontractors to come do the work. When I left the google review, he called to tell me that the subcontractors were the issue, and that he has since cut ties with him - but I hired him, not Bruce, or "Ideel construction" which I also intend to leave a review for. Chris made an attempt to fix the backsplash, but there are other issues as well. I will have to dump another 10K into my kitchen to undo what his team did. Inexcusable. If you don't have 50K to spend on a kitchen remodel, don't bother with this company."

25 years of experience

We are a full service real estate and construction business. We can assist you with all of your residential and commercial real estate needs. We offer flexible billing terms.

"Rob Mantua and Kristal Aluia approached me in August of 2017 and suggested I buy a house that they would fix up for re-selling. They promised to do this within 6 weeks. I purchased the house September 1st and have paid them more than the original estimated total, but the house is less than 25% complete. It has no working bathroom, no kitchen, no new roof, no furnace, all of which they promised. It is now more than 8 months since I purchased the house. Multiple times, they promised they would finish the job and then did nothing. They have done almost no work since December. Now, they have not returned a call, text or email for four weeks."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Painting countertops can take a few days to complete yourself. However, keep in mind that it can take up to 14 days for the sealer to cure. So, you want to make sure you wait the manufacturer's recommended amount of time before using your countertops after painting them.

Modular homes are a type of prefab home. Specifically, manufacturers first build modular homes in sections and then deliver them to the job site. The modules, or sections, are usually at least 70% finished before they arrive on your property.

In comparison, prefab homes arrive in panels or segments, and workers assemble them on-site. Generally speaking, modular homes tend to be more durable, and their consistent construction standards may mean you’ll have an easier time getting conventional home loans.

To qualify as a guest house, a structure needs to meet your local building code requirements. In some locations, a guest house must be a separate residence from the primary home. In other locations, you may be able to connect the two buildings and still call the second building a guest house. However, a structure doesn’t often need a minimum size to qualify as a guest house.

Tiny houses, often called tiny homes, need between 100 to 400 square feet, with the most common size being between 200 and 300 square feet. Tiny houses more than 400 square feet venture into apartment-size dwellings and may be considered more of a traditional house than a tiny home. The number of occupants, desired lifestyle, and furniture will all be major factors that determine the desired tiny house size.

Renovating or remodeling an existing structure is usually less expensive than the cost to build a new house. That’s because you can save on the costs of new building materials, laying a foundation, framing the entire building, and installing new materials and utilities throughout the house. However, if a home is in very poor condition or is incredibly old, you could spend more on upgrades and restoration compared to building from scratch.
