"They just finished a project in my house: crown moldings, wall moldings, wainscoting, Wood planks on walls and ceilings, and stone. Everything is perfect. They are very fast and super clean. I strongly recommend H&B. I can't wait to hire them for new projects."
"GS and his team were thorough, showed up on time everyday, and painted my entire home in 3 days. My wife and I just love it and recommend them highly."
"It was a big build. Coordination of trades was important. Their work to navigate permits with multiple government agencies kept the project on track and on budget. . It's drawn a lot of neighborhood attention. One of the goals was to make this large shop fit into the neighborhood. Job well done."
"Stephen was awesome to work with and his work is outstanding. We are SO happy with our new railings, they make the entire house look brand new. If you need work done in the Grand Haven/Holland area, don't hesitate to go with Northern Lights Construction. I've worked with a lot of contractors and Stephen is top notch. Highly recommend."
"Fortuna Construction provides superior work and results! John was extremely knowledgeable about the repairs I requested and offered useful advice when reviewing them for the first time. The work was done quickly and accurately with close attention to detail. I couldn't have asked for it to be done any better--just excellent! The quoted cost was reasonable and well worth it. I would absolutely recommend this skilled expert/craftsman to anyone needing work done on their residence."
"I didn't like it at all. First, the guy did not look professional to me and secondly he did not work for two hours. For the main job that I wanted him to do, he started saying that he needed to break toilet and he was trying to charge me more money which I did not do. They were two people and they did not look professional and they didn't act professional either. I hired another person and he removed the toilet and did what I wanted. He removed the clogging and put it back. I wouldn't call him again. I paid them additionally to change the faucet. "
"We have a older home with an addition. This presented many challenges but Ralph was on sight and available when needed. His plumbers, painters, carpenters, electricians and flooring team are amazing. This was a major project for our family and we are very happy with his work. Will use again gave us a finished product that we love!"
"The guy who gave me the quote was knowledgeable and on the ball. I wasn't really impressed with the workers. It took them multiple days to do a project that they said would take one day. It didn't turn out the way that they said it would. The owner came back after the work was done. He had them come back and fix some things and clean up. When all was done and said it turned out the way it was supposed to."
You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.
It is highly recommended to prime a metal surface, like a garage door, before painting. Primer creates a stable surface for the paint to adhere to, which helps prevent bubbling, chipping, and peeling. This ensures the paint job will last longer. Painting metal without a primer can lead to poor adhesion and allow rust to bleed through the new paint. If the surface already has rust spots, you can cover them with a zinc chromate primer before applying the final coat. While priming adds an extra step and cost, it is a worthwhile investment for a durable, long-lasting finish. For best results, also use a paint specifically designed for metal.
It can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a day or two to clean out a garage. Times vary depending on the garage size, accessibility, and the amount and type of items that need sorting and lifting. A triple-car garage full of decades of clutter will take much longer to clear than a single garage with just a few unwanted bulky items.
Whether a garage or an extra room adds more value depends on several factors, including local market demand, location, and typical buyer preferences. Generally, added living space is highly desirable to most buyers, which can make an extra room more valuable than a traditional garage. The return on investment (ROI) often depends on the utility of the new space; for example, an additional bedroom is typically more valuable than a new living room, and converting a garage into a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom will likely add the most value. A well-designed extra room can also serve specific needs, such as a home office, guest room, or entertainment space. However, adding a garage may be more valuable in areas with limited street parking or harsh climates where protecting a vehicle is a priority.
If you open your garage manually, you don’t need sensors. If you have an automatic garage door opener, sensors are required by law. The federal law UL 325 mandates that all residential garage door openers in the U.S. must include sensors. Designed to prevent accidents and reduce the risk of entrapment, the sensors should be able to reverse the motion of the garage door within two seconds of detecting an obstruction. The sensors are there to keep you, your family, and your belongings safe from a door that might otherwise come down too hard or too fast.
