"They were easy to deal with and installed the system exactly as they described. We have yet to test the new radon levels, but have been assured it will work."

In 2009, he began working in crawlspace repair and quickly found his passion. Just two years later, Crawlspace Remediation was born!\n\nSince 2011, we’ve been helping homeowners with not only crawlspaces, but also radon testing & mitigation, basement waterproofing, attic solutions, and mold testing. We’re also professionally Certified Air Inspectors.\n\nSo how did we end up in Waterford? Sam married a Michigan gal—now we proudly serve both Indiana and Michigan! "This Company does the testing for Radon. They arrived when they were supposed to and performed the test in the time frame they committed to. I had Radon gas over the safe limit and they recommended me to Peak Environment which was also very good at the mitigation installation. Very professional!"

"The Buyer's Inspector was extremely thorough. I have heard it said that he is the "pit bull" of home inspectors. He left radon detection equipment behind for over 50 hours. He offered additional water testing at my request. He has provided me with a itemization of all things good, marginal, bad, dangerous of every aspect of my house. He cross referenced these comments with pictures and suggestions. He seemed highly knowledgeable. It will be easy for electrician, plumbers, chimney sweeps, etc. to understand and locate the problem areas in the home. But beware when you schedule: My inspection lasted 6 hours!"

"I received a call regarding my request within 15 minutes. He was available the following day to install the Radon monitor and was able to pick it up 2 days later when myself & my client were doing the General Home Inspection. Completely professional, polite, friendly and I had the results of the test, a few hours later."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Keeping radon from getting into your home is much better than having to get rid of it once it's already indoors. While there may not be a way to fully prevent radon from getting into your home, there are things you can do to reduce the gas's ability to enter.

Sealing foundation cracks and openings can help keep the gas from seeping inside. Improving air flow, such as by opening windows, can also be helpful. If you're building your home from scratch, talk to your contractor about using radon-resistant construction to keep the gas out.

Radon is present almost everywhere but, like sunlight, the concentration levels and how often you are exposed to it have a large part to play in just how dangerous it is. There are levels of radon that are acceptable inside a house, but above a certain limit, radon becomes a serious radioactive hazard that is a known cause of lung cancer. In fact, radon exposure is the number two leading cause of lung cancer (after smoking).

You can vent radon out of your house sometimes by simply opening a window, but it won’t remove the source, and will likely rise above recommended levels quickly. A professional will be needed to assess your home, and determine the best strategy for radon removal. Active radon sump pumps and soil depressurization systems are often used to forcefully vent the radon from your home.

Radon is the number one non-smoking cause of lung cancer in the United States, but it can cause some other concerning side effects in the meantime. If you have a raspy voice, chest pains, trouble breathing, difficulty swallowing, or any of the above, don’t hesitate to perform radon testing and install a mitigation system as soon as possible.

Long-term exposure increases lung cancer risks. Prolonged homestay individuals and smokers encounter heightened vulnerability and exposure concerns.
