I’m 36 year old, have been doing mainly industrial maintenance the past 6 years or so. Love fixing and putting together all kinds of different things. Not as experienced with home improvements but I have done my fair share, and am never afraid to take on a challenge. I can say that no matter what you throw at me, I will find a way to complete the job and make sure the customer is satisfied.

"Matt has done several different projects for me over the past few years. He has installed a new seawall, which required him to get approval from the DEQ and follow their requirements, he has replaced siding that has been damaged from storms, he has done several landscaping projects, painted doors, kept my mowing equipment and golf cart in good working condition. I think he is capable of doing most any project that would need to be done. He has a lawn mowing service as well. I cannot think of any project that I have asked Matt to do that he has not completed well and timely. I would highly recommend him for his work and his honesty."

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Rates vary by task complexity and time, often providing cost-effective solutions for homeowners.

Whether a scullery is worth it depends on how much you like to cook and entertain. If you frequently host gatherings—a scullery is likely worth the money. If you’re looking for ROI, it’s not so clear. It may not add significant value to your home, as it doesn’t increase square footage and may repurpose space that a buyer would have preferred to remain as-is (like a laundry room).

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

While a handyperson will do the odd small job for your home, a maintenance person is responsible for conducting regular inspections and repairs. Maintenance people may come in to do small fixes and diagnose any issues you might be facing, but may not have all the same technical abilities as a handyperson.
