"We bought a home and were needed to move in, but also needed to get the floors refinished before hauling all our stuff in. We contacted Footprints and they were available the next day to come to the home and give us a quote! They were super flexible with scheduling and worked to get our hardwoods floors refinished quickly (within two weeks!) so we could get moved in. Importantly, the floors are gorgeous!"

"The entire process was simple and my floors looks great. I thought that the job would be very dusty and dirty, but with the vacuum that they had, there is hardly any dust. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to have a wood floor refinished."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

No, termites don’t eat bamboo flooring like they do hardwood flooring. That’s because bamboo is a hardy grass that is naturally resistant to many pests, including termites. If you’re concerned about termites or other pests that could damage your floors, you can achieve a look similar to hardwood without the stress of pests by installing bamboo flooring.

No, replacing flooring is considered a renovation. You're updating an existing feature without changing the layout or structure of the space. However, it can be a remodel if extensive work is needed to update the subflooring.

Dry rot or severe water damage may warrant a replacement, but you don’t always need to replace damaged subflooring. If your subfloor has warped because it was installed incorrectly, you can sometimes shim the panels (in other words, add a thin, wedge-shaped piece of wood to level the surface). If your subfloor bows upward, you may be able to sand it down at the joist so it’s level, depending on the extent of the damage.

A transition piece between carpet stairs and wood flooring isn't always necessary. A transition piece separates two types of flooring in between rooms and areas, like carpet and vinyl. Because the carpet on the stairs tucks into the seam, you can’t see the fringes, and there is no need to hide anything. However, you can use a stair cap if your stairs have a nose.

Impervious or vitreous tile and vinyl flooring work best for the kitchen. These surfaces are non-porous (or have a very low porosity) that can stand up against spills, splashes, and plumbing leaks. Some natural stones are also a good fit, but keep porosity in mind. You may need to seal them to avoid stains and water damage to the subfloor.
