"STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They took my 1st half deposit and then vanished. I have called multiple times. Spoke with someone once and they promised a call back. Never did. Emailed and no response. This was over 4 months ago. Nothing. They stole my money. Sales guy was John Mullikin. Here's their class-act response by chat. The best response I've had yet. "Conversation closed by Erika"."

We are a licensed, bonded and insured company, dealing with most aspects of residential flatwork. This includes concrete flatwork ordained to be 'city' work that requires a permit (City of G.R., Kentwood, Wyoming, etc.) We also do light commercial - style applications Typically, we consist of a four-man crew, using a bobcat and two dumps. This allows us, for instance, to remove and replace a typical driveway in one to two days.

"A & B Concrete was the most responsive contractor I contacted and got me quotes quickly. I wasn’t given much notice before the came out to start the job, but that was due to on-and-off rainy weather. Once they started the job, Jack and his crew were helpful with all my questions and professional."

"Biggest scam I e ever experience. The charged me 40k after interest to fix my sagging foundation, and fix my flooding crawl space. After an impressive sales pitch I signed the contract and had them do the ?work?. dusing the sales pitch they told me they would level my floors, and install equipment to prevent my crawl space from flooding every year. They explained this will be a multiple day project and I would have to rip up my floor to give the access to the foundation. So I ripped up my floor, and had them come in to do the work. They were in and out in about 4 hours, and left me with still sagging floors. after Getting in the crawl space myself I discovered that multiple of the jacks that they installed to lift the foundation, weren?t even touching the joists. And to this day, my crawl space still floods with a foot of water every spring. I contacted Ayer?s to see what can be done, they offered no compensation, and no help. If you?re planning to hire Ayer?s, dont"

Kent Home Services is a family-owned business that has been serving homeowners, builders, and property managers like you for over 60 years. We have the size, stability and dependability – backed up by an A rating from the Better Business Bureau and 5 star Google reviews – that make us the contractor of choice for homeowners. Kent Home Services focuses exclusively on residential properties. We understand the value and expertise you demand for your home because we’re homeowners just like you! We offer you access to the knowledge, experience and stability of an established company — and we make our services available at the level and price that is a value for homeowners. We stand by our work, and we will for generations to come.

"I regret calling this company. I have attached two pictures, try and guess which one was before and which one is after me spending $650. 1. I brought them out to do a poly lift and fill for the slab leading up to my porch and the area under the porch. I needed two things done, bolstering and filling the space under my porch to prevent damage to my porch or foundation, and I needed them to fix the giant crack between my porch and sidewalk. I was told in the estimate this was all doable. We agree that they will lift and poly fill the four slabs leading up to my porch so it is even, and they will fill and bolster under the porch itself. 2. I pay the deposit, half of the total cost, up front to begin work. The day comes and I let the guys know I would love to see what it looks like when it's done, give me a knock on the door and I'll come check it out. They leave without telling me, which should have been my first red flag, and I go to check out their work. Had they not drilled a dozen ugly holes 1-2" wide in my sidewalk and porch, which I was told would be no bigger than a dime, I would not have even known they were here. 3. We go back and forth for another 2 weeks discussing what will be done to remedy this, and they end up sending another guy out to add more material underneath the porch, which I was appreciative of at the time, but when he left I once again could not tell that anything was even done. I still have a huge gap under my porch, the giant crack is still there, and now I have a dozen patched holes leading up to my house as a daily reminder not to call Kent Home Services again. 4. After further discussion over what can be done to remedy this, they tell me that they are unable to perform the job as agreed upon, will be wiping the remainder of my bill (something I appreciate, but had I known the end result I would never have called them and would have just bought 2 bags of Quickrete and done the job myself for a fraction of the cost and time), and we will be done talking about it. 5. On top of this, they took my fancy hose nozzle with them and left me with my standard hose nozzle. This isn't even a big deal to me, it's $25, but it's the principle of it. When questioned about this they told me that the foreman took a look around and they couldn't find it. This was the last communication I received from them. Again, I implore you to try and guess which picture is before and which is after. If you can easily tell, and have several unused hose nozzles laying around, then Kent Home Services is the company for you. If you can't tell, neither can I, but you didn't have to spend $650 to figure that out."

Everything was timed perfect and Luis was excellent at communicating through the entire process from beginning to end. Our city inspector stopped by a second time and stated it was poured exactly the way they wanted it to be and was impressed with the work of L & O. So were many neighbors. I highly recommend this company and would not bother contacting anyone else. Great work for a fantastic price!"

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

Yes, lampposts need a concrete base. The concrete base provides a stable foundation for the lamppost, which can be heavy from the weight of the light fixture and other accessories. A concrete base also provides structural support for the lamppost, keeping it from sinking into the ground or tipping over in the wind.

Concrete is the most popular garage flooring option because it’s durable and can stand up to the weight of vehicles. If you plan on using your garage to park your car or store heavy items, concrete is a solid option. However, if you want to convert your garage to a living space, you can choose any number of flooring options to go over the concrete foundation, including wood, tile, and even carpeting.

Yes, it is possible to drill into concrete with nothing more than a regular drill. However, it will take more time and more effort on your part. You also need to watch out for overheating and wearing out the drill bit. Using water can help lubricate the bit and prevent overheating.

The prevention steps are essentially the same, no matter the patio material. Keep the surface clean and maintained. Ensure there's no debris buildup, and cover the whole thing in a quality sealant. If it's the start of a season or it's been a while since you've cleaned the area, use a pressure washer.

A paved driveway adds $5,000 to $7,000 to the value of your home. That’s because it increases your curb appeal and the functionality of your outdoor space, which appeals to potential buyers.
